I was clearing out a cupboard and came across this.. can’t remember what year. I’m thinking it’s taken before Vautour winning the Supreme

September 18, 2022 at 20:03 #1615122Do you remember my pal Wendy turning up at the same time? And your dad and Deaf John (?) were there, too. I wonder if I’ll get to Cheltenham again: it’s a very long, tiring day, especially as I like to get there early to see the horses arriving.
September 18, 2022 at 20:36 #1615126Yes, just about remember Wendy.
Deaf John is still with us although not well at the moment, just home from hospital, old age catching up with him.

October 13, 2022 at 01:04 #1618243I don’t recognize either of them.
It may possibly be a lack of friends.
….like David Dimbleby I will start smoking roll ups.

March 18, 2026 at 10:26 #1760367Well done Moehat…
It was a good day for keep taking father to the toilet and keeping Jon out of the drunks way. He got knocked down at one point. At least the coach had a bog for father
Nice memories… 🐎
You should try and make it down again. The place has changed a bit since that dayGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 18, 2026 at 11:53 #1760368We just go to Kelso these days because we can take the dog, it’s a nice drive and we sit at a picnic bench by the last fence with one of the paramedics who we made friends with a few years ago ( can’t walk far with my dodgy knee). So many memories at Cheltenham of racing chums that are no longer with us. But, when I am there I feel as if they’re there too, just as I can feel the presence of all of the great horses that have ran there. Glad I got to meet your dad and Deaf Jon. It was a good day!
March 18, 2026 at 17:25 #1760381I’ll have a tea with you one day Moehat , I love Kelso and for some reason haven’t made a meeting this season , I’ll book a day for next season

April 9, 2026 at 12:50 #1762446We’re going to the one in @ 3 weeks time ( booked our early bird tickets). Then we’ll be back in September for a few weeks. We’re always sat on the picnic bench with Winnie the black whippet by the last hurdle chatting with our mate the paramedic. We’re then back up @ December time. It must be one of the nicest drives to any racetrack through the border country.
