Imo not as good a race as the Manifesto yesterday but an intersting one nonetheless. The second and fourth from the RSA turn up aswell as the fifth from th 4 miler.
Burton Port is an admirable sort who stayed on to good effect at Cheltenham. He holds Knockara Beau on Ascot form but I’m not sure he KB was seen at his best that day. Burton Port was 1 1/2 lengths clear of him in the RSA and there’s unlikely to be much between them again.
Take The Breeze has been somewhat dissapointing since slamming Dave’s Dream, and he would need to step up on recent form to take a hand imo. Ogee ran a cracker in the William Hill and won at this meeting last year, so has to be respected. Khachaturian could outrun his odds, he ran well for a long way in the 4 miler before fading towards the end. The drop back down in trip should suit on that evidence. It’s very difficult to envisage him winning this though.
The one I like is Lenabane. He ran a cracker in the Knight Frank behind Pandorama, Weapon’s Amnesty and Catch Me, one of if not the best 3m novice chase run in Ireland this season. Heavy ground got the better of him when he faded behind Citizen Vic in the Dr.PJ Moriarty. Being by Luso (not a sire I particularly like tbh) the better ground here should suit, and he travels and jumps well. I’ve taken the 12/1 with Hills and think he’ll be therabouts in the straight. Whether he’s good enough to go on and win his race remains to be seen.
April 9, 2010 at 10:48 #288815I wouldn’t be surprised if Ogee wins, but at the prices, I just have a sneaking feeling for Take the Breeze. The ground may well porve too lively, but it will help him get the extra distance in this and I think he’ll prefer this flatter track (I know he’s won round Exeter twice but his best run was probably Newbury)
April 9, 2010 at 12:12 #288852I’ll probably opt for Khachaturian, who normally runs well at this meeting, or Song Sung Blue at a decent EW price.
