Saw something during the Dubai World Cup coverage about De Kock having training facilities over here now for the forthcoming flat season.

Has anyone heard any news on what his plans are with Archipenko and or Eagle Mountain? Am trying to plan out my Tentofollow and was thinking:

Archipenko could be a good one for the Prince Of Wales/ Eclipse/ Irish Champion Stakes.

Eagle Mountain could be decent in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, Juddmonte International Irish Champion Stakes and Champion Stakes, and maybe a fewother good ground contests along the way. Seems best with some cut in the ground and round about 1m2f (but seems to handle a step up or down either way).

Hi Bully, have you tired snooping around on his website?

    http://www.mikedekockracing.com/

Could possibly drop an e-mail to them i guess if you can’t find the answers.

I heard him on about bringing a team over again, Eagle Mountain will be aimed at the Champion Stakes and then the Breeders Cup again if i remember rightly. Not sure on plans for Archipenko, both only had 1 run over here though last year. I can’t see them having a big campaign

His principle owner Sheikh Bin Khalifa has bought Geoff Wragg’s old yard.

De Kock said he will base about 15 horses there, the criteria being they must be at least listed class and some of the high profile ones will be campaigned globally though I think I read that a couple (Asiatic Boy I think was one) may be trained in US).

It will also no doubt be used as a quaratine base as the rules from Dubai to SA still specify a period overseas before admittance to Dubai.

Eagle Mountain and Conduit are the benchmark of middle-distance horses in the UK this season. It shapes up as a very competitive season, and not swallowed up by the Coolmore cavalry.

Eagle Mountain got injured before the Dubai World Cup so when he will be back is anyones guess.

Honour Devil and Aisatic Boy may join Keiron Mclaughin with one of them heading off too stud in South America at some stage this year.

Mike’s string will be back at Abington Place in early May as in previous years, where he will now be based in the main yard. Wit’s spotted his two runners (Archipenko and Imbongi) in Hong Kong whilst Bankable could go to Singapore.

The others are taking things easy in quarantine in Dubai and won’t really be ready to race until Royal Ascot.

Eagle Mountain had a set back but should be back for the back end races – hopefully.

Front House and J J The Jet Plane should be two of his star turns for the Summer.
