Agree with Cattermole, apparently the threshold is signicantly lower for jockeys than car drivers (think it may be half). Would mean you could have a small drink the night before and fail, anyone know why it’s significantly lower for jockeys than car drivers?

    Story here

    http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/news … Hills.html

Limit is about half that for drink/driving

These are snall guys who are dehydrated so it doesn’t take much to reach a reading like Hills (about a pint of beer or equivalent I should think)

The limit for drink driving is 35 microgrammes per 100ml of breath. That is the Road Traffic Law

I do not know what the limit is for jockeys as it is not law and this incident relates only to disciplinary matters for jockeys. It would however be intersting to know.

Jockeys are small by their very nature and the ingestion of alcohol depends on weight size etc.

One loses on average one unit per hour. One unit may equal a pint, glass of wine and so forth, dependant on the strengh of alcohol taken.

So dependant on when the test was taken in relation to his last drink he may well have a drink a problem.

Just in case anyone takes this too literally, one unit will not equal a pint, a pint of weak stuff will be two units, of stronger stuff such as Stella will be more than two units.
