Good Morning to everybody – I hope that all of you are well and staying safe.
Jac I think that it is still early days for Dave after his operation but again
I hope that he is starting to feel better now that he his back at home.

The Godolphin competition is almost over and I think it has to be the worst one
in many ways that I can remember. I still have only 6400 Points and my rank is now
down at 819. However I do still have one swap left. My own focus and interest was
lost back in the summer and although Ancient Wisdom did offer a glimmer of hope for
2024 by winning at Doncaster on Saturday, Aiden O’Brien still seems to hold most of
the aces among the 3-Y-O colts for next years classics.

My own chance of some glory in one of the competitions went on Saturday when I lost
in the Daylight Cup by just 2 Points. Still once again not enough attention to detail
and well done to Broadsword for his win. :negative:

In the short term the jumpers are beginning too emerge back on the racecourse and
the TTTF opens for entries on Tuesday October 31st, so that is now my main focus and
    interest

All the best to all of you and keep on finding those winners and beating the bookies. :good: :bye:

    Hello John
Always nice to hear from you and thanks for your good wishes. Dave is feeling stronger now and his procedure has enabled him to come off a medication that makes him feel really tired, it will take a few months until he really feels the benefits but it will be worth the wait. :good:

Sorry you were knocked out of the Daylight yesterday by just 2 points and I think Andre will be feeling the same as I was the guilty party knocking him out of the contest. Anyway I have now drawn rob north so it could be curtains for me also but I’ll have a good bash at picking some decent horses for next Saturday and at least I have Newmarket for one final hooray, I’ll have to study up for that one. We also have the TTTF competitions starting and for that I am almost clueless but hopeful to find 10 for Bobby’s Comp and Graham’s comp before the off on Saturday.

Everything seems to be happening on Saturday and I am also away at Newmarket Friday and Saturday with daughter Louise. Dave staying with Son Chris so he can enjoy lots of loving licks from Wilson Andre. :good: to help him get better.

As you say John this has been the worst Godolphin competition but I was so pleased to see Ancient Wisdom scoot home yesterday and really believe he is one of their best prospects for 2024. However the one who is going to shine is Arabian Crown he is my Guineas/Derby hope (Ancient Wisdom Guineas also) and it is something for us to look forward to in 2024.

Always sad to say goodbye to the Flat and Louise and I are planning a great weekend to see it off staying over at a local Spa hotel in Newmarket and watching the Breeders Cup on TV with a glass of bubbly.

Best of luck with TTTF comps John you really shine at those, as does Andre and Graham but I’m definitely going to take part just for fun of it, everyone Bobby and Graham always put their heart and sole into it for us. :rose:

Every good wish to all on here, including of course our Sam, and their families to keep in good health and sum up enough energy to bash those bookies into next years Flat Season and beyond. :yahoo:

I suppose I will need to use my last swap soon as time is running out!

A few interesting runners to watch at Aintree today 12:50 – Equinus 13:25 – Celebre D’allen and 14:00 – My Drogo.

Congrats again Jac on your well deserved win yesterday. It was quite a battle. I see the draw has been posted for the next round. Glad to see you & Graham avoided each other. How is Dave doing? Hopefully making slow but steady progress.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

Interesting runner here off a long time. Not likely to trouble the top two but this one has had attention surrounding non trying in the past.

Ideally extra place betting may see this one make the top seven….

Well backed from treble figures into 50/1 second. Very sad for this horse if you read the stewards report. the lengths people will go to, to pull off a “touch”. It’s not a touch is it if the horse comes to any harm.
Serious money down here if Miss Augusta returns 11/8 when odds on all day.
I did it each way in the end as I don’t have an additional place account. Took the sp option not expecting any money for it and missed the triple figures available.

Sorry to hear that Saddle Her Up 2nd 50/1 may have come to some harm. What exactly happened to her Sam?
    Hope She’s ok. :negative: Jac

I’ve been wrestling with my laptop all day, I was paying for my Norton Security
but couldn’t get onto their server. I eventually gave permission, or tried to,
to one of Norton’s staff, but still couldn’t get the permission for him to sort
the problem from there. He must have been on for over an hour. Eventually he said
I’ll phone you in half an hour. He was 2 minutes away when I found the box to give
him permission aarrgh  Anyway he’ll phone and he can sort it out.

Hope Dave is doing well but taking it easy Jac, he’s been through the mill a bit.
Marjorie is hobbling with her sore hip but we saw the consultant last week and he
will be able to sort her out with a new hip next month. She’s been through the wars
    too poor soul :rose:

I’ve just checked and I see I’m drawn against Isenglass. He put out Hot Fuss who
I thought was definitely one of the favs to win so it’s going to be tough. I’m
looking forward to it though, I’m going to have to be on my mettle to get through.

I’ll get the ball up and rolling for the TTTF (jumps) which is open on 31st October.
I’m hugely thankful to John who has backed me up with £25 :yahoo: I hope we get
20 or more stables, we were just short on the flat, and it means £50 to the winner
and £25 for the runner up. Thanks again so much John, you’re definitely my TTTF
    wing man :good:

That doesn’t sound good about Saddle Her Up Sam. I hope she’s okay, it sounds
like there’s been a bit of skulduggery going on there

You’re in position 1 Andre in the Godolphin compy and with 1 life left. As I posted
earlier I completely messed up and I’m dead in the water  Best of luck to one
    and all :good:

50/1 runner up each way when I could have taken 100/1. An unusual one in that she started off in maiden hurdles before going into bumpers served a ban for non trying in that maiden hurdle. But on examination after that found to have a fresh wound on top of a previously healed wound.
    More about that another time.
Here is hopefully a winner stateside
    Churchill downs 2135 ( grade2)
    Moonlight
    Win
8 length winner on debut and stalked opponent and enjoyed a good tow before asserting on the home turn. Soon pulled clear….

Moonlight a staying on second but never at the races. Stall 8 the winner and stall 1 a non runner. Just 8 due to have run, traverse law in a nutshell. Easy to say after the event of course. Wet track was also a leveller and it took moonlight an age to get on terms, so to his credit that he finished so strongly. Subject to the circumstances of his next race he’d be a likely candidate to go close.

I’ve been narrowing down my list of horses for the TTF competition and I just read/noticed that one of my current ten is entered in a race on Friday – the day before the competition starts. If he runs and say he wins – do I keep him in my ten or switch him out knowing he won’t run for several weeks? If he runs poorly, then maybe I would replace him… what do you think?

PS – Godolphin Update – 9,840 & 307th overall. Picked up 250pts from Birr Castle last Friday :good:

Depends Andre, if he wins well, check to see what he’s entered in. If he’s expected
to go for the big races he’s be worth keeping in. On the horses information, previous
races etc, check on comments. They normally don’t comment if he loses, but if he wins
there’s normally comments from the jockey/Trainer/Owner often giving an indication
where the horse might be heading next. If he runs like he ate all the pies and smoked
60 fags a day, I’d sling him out.

    Best of luck mate :good:

Two winners and a forecast (£29)and a 33-1 third (each way) and a win bet which was third at 22/1 at Galway.
Two attempts at tricasts but no joy and all this in five races so a profit on the day. You just get into Galway then they switch codes.
It is the last day of the month and hopefully will land some good bets to see out the month. Doesn’t look like they can save the curragh meeting but if they do heavy ground would rule out a lot of contenders then factoring in the draw could bring up some good priced winners.

In race reading I check the Irish website for stewards reports and helpfully these are highlighted in an individual horses race record if you click on it indicated by a green dot. So when browsing through the field going hurdling then going to a bumper is unusual for a twice raced horse and the green light was showing. So closer inspection of the steward report reads thus.
The authorities in Ireland call more non triers than British stewards but don’t go the whole ten yards because of legalities or otherwise. This stewards report resulted in a forty two day ban for the horse which obviously does nothing other than give the horse sufficient time to recover. Horses welfare is not the reason for a ban rather a fine is imposed and the supposed loss of income from racing is the outdated penalty. No referral to IRSPCA or any type of consideration towards the horse and upon return from ban again a ride worthy of closer inspection but not given.

C.A. Landers, rider of Youralwaysdreamin trained by Patrick T. Foley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned left throughout this race
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Saddle Her Up, ridden by Kieran Callaghan, and trained by Barry J. Fitzgerald. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Kieran Callaghan, stated that his instructions were to drop his mount out as it can be very keen at home, to get it jumping and to do the best he could. He said his mount ran very green throughout, missed the first hurdle, lost ground when impeded by fallers at different stages in the race and hung off the home bend. Barry J. Fitzgerald, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He said his charge was having its first run on the track and can be a very keen individual. He accepted that the rider could have been seen to make more of an effort, but concluding by confirming his satisfaction with the ride. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Saddle Her Up was found to have slight bilateral nasal discharge and noted a fresh wound on an old wound on the right hind coronet. Samples were taken for analysis
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that both the rider and trainer were in breach of Rule 212A(ii) in that the animal was not seen to have been the subject of a genuine attempt to achieve a best possible placing. Having taken their respective records in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended Kieran Callaghan for 10 racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee and fined Barry J. Fitzgerald €2000. Furthermore, the Stewards suspended Saddle Her Up for a period of 42 days in accordance with the provisions of Rule 212 C(d).

Struggling to keep up with all the posts (lovely to see this Thread so lively :good: ) and thanks for good wishes for Dave and hope all goes well for Marjorie with her hip operation Graham. :good:

Best of luck in the Daylight on Saturday against Isinglass as I take on Rob and hope he’s on a ‘blowing cold’ day. He’s already knocked out Mike007 so I take nothing for granted.

Well done Andre for leading our Godolphin Compy which ends next week.
Although I have no swaps one of my horses, Sunset Point, has been taken out of training so I have a replacement to play with.

I will be a bit quiet next few days as I am frantically searching for 10 horses for Bobby’s comp and looking at the decs for the final 2 days at Newmarket.
Noticed they are going to be running The Horris Hill 2yo Group race there on Saturday from the abandoned race meeting last week so hoping I have a nice Nap to play from that one. :good:

So much going on and Sam thanks for the update on poor Saddle Her Up..I hope that open wound gets their ears pricking up to abuse somewhere along the line and she gets the care she deserves. :-( Best of luck with all your choices this week..

    Take care

Guys I’m aiming to put up four winners today most likely later as I’m on a flower mission now at a garden that’s been throw open to me to supply to the hospice shop to sell and they have the greatest Dahlias in there.
But rest assured if there’s a decent runner tonight I’ll do my best to sniff it out. Didn’t do too bad yesterday.
The tricast may be a bridge too far but a winners a winner. :good:
