Since <b>Meydan</b> has changed over from Tapeta to a Dirt surface, at the moment it doesn’t seem to suit the closers in the race, if you are not up with the pace you have no chance.
After watching some of the races and seeing the fields finishing "strung out" like washing, I took a look at the going allowance.
Using an algorithm I developed, I had the going allowance for the 1st meeting at <b>-0.17s/f</b> and yesterdays meeting was <b>-0.13s/f</b>, this tells me the emphasis is on <b>stamina</b>, the official going description of <b>fast</b>, being slightly wide of the mark <!– s:shock: –>

Slow -0.70s/f to -0.50s/fLooking at yesterday’s results, the one horse that seems to have improved by running on the <b>Dirt</b> was <b>Satwa Story</b> (3.55) and his speed figure went up considerably.

into my horse tracker, his performance yesterday was out of the top draw, and it will take a group horse to lower his colours.

I continue to monitor the speed of the
dirt
surface at
Meydan
.
Yesterday’s meeting the surface slowed down to
-0.29s/f
(standard to slow) which is the slowest so called all-weather going allowance I have ever recorded.
You could say that the dirt surface is riding what would be called
good to soft
on the turf, I think that they have got a serious problem on their hands.
Last weeks meeting I thought that things were getting better when I had the going allowance on the dirt at
0.00s/f
(standard), but that didn’t last long.

The dirt track at
Meydan
speeded up again for yesterday’s low grade meeting at
-0.03s/f
(standard).
Is a pattern emerging, when they run the top class races on Thursday’s they slow the dirt surface down, or maybe the problem lies with me being a cynic, I will be able to test out these theories at the next meeting

Just as I suspected for the carnival races (Thursday), the going allowance for the dirt surface returned to
-0.20s/f
(standard to slow).
So in a nutshell, not that anybody is interested, when they run the carnival races on a Thursday, the surface rides like the
fibresand
at Southwell, and for the lesser meetings held on Saturdays, the surface speeds up around
0.00s/f
and rides like a polytrack, now you can see why
