I’m not a fan of Balding, she’s not knowledgeable enough for me. Lydia Hislop could do all Balding does plus she has a good knowledge of the formbook etc.
As for C4, the likes of Francome & GG’s lack of homework is very apparent week in week out. Last Saturday in their GN preview Francome said that the watering at Aintree was only keeping the dust down, why are they allowed to spout such rubbish?
April 18, 2007 at 12:33 #51688I’d agree on Clare Balding. She has a very condescending attitude to her co-presenters, especially Willie Carson, and she’s forever tipping horses based mostly on how they look in the paddock. That’s nice and all, but I’ll bet looking at the form book will make you a more useful racing presenter.
April 18, 2007 at 12:39 #51690Yeats, at least Francome does’nt take himself too serious unlike a lot of presenters (Balding the No1).
I think most people who contribute on this forum are as knowledgeable if not more knowledgeable than some of the presenters on the dedicated Racing Channels ior the terrestial coverage.
I suppose its everyman for themselves who they like and dislike.
I think Mc Crirrick is a breath of fresh air, quiet happy to have a laugh at himself, where a lot of people find him an arrogant twat, like Mr. Paul Haigh whenever he gets the chance he uses his RP Column to have a go at Mc Crirrick. Personnally I think Haigh is an arrogant twat, in line with the most arrogant twat of them all Mr Matt Chapman.
April 18, 2007 at 13:02 #51691Speak your mind in future Madman!!
Personally, I quite like Balding. I would agree that she’s not the most knowledgeable but that’s not what she’s there for, she’s there to keep the show ticking over and on that front she puts anyone at C4 to shame in my opinion.
Whilst I like Lydia and think she has a better grasp of the game she’s nowhere near as good a presenter. If you had a show full of pundits it would degenerate quickly. You have to be pragmatic with these things.
April 18, 2007 at 13:21 #51693Madman don’t start me on Chapman.I hate crawlers. The way he arze kisses every trainer and jockey he interviews. One he calls the master trainer, the next is the greatest trainer etc .etc….Such an annoying twat. Loves to bully big mac too.
i done a customer servey recently through an email i got from atr, lord i gave him some lambasting. Hope they sack him on my advice.
RUK is a class above in my opinion. Showing the breeze ups the last few mornings, great stuff.

I completely agree with that. Clare Balding isn’t there as an expert, she’s there to front the programme in a professional way and she does just that. Lydia for all her expertise isn’t a great presenter sadly.

de-jaculation – to be ejaculated but not lose contact with the horse – thus being thrust back into the saddle – and causing de-jaculation.
April 19, 2007 at 20:35 #51697Personally i think Matt Chapman is a lot of fun – i know he does this over the top fauning of virtually everybody but believe its all very tongue in cheek and should not be taken seriously ;)

I don’t think the term "over the top " has ever sounded so understated.
April 20, 2007 at 11:40 #51700Chapman is annoying….
April 20, 2007 at 12:46 #51701Chapman is Thommo mark 2…
April 20, 2007 at 12:58 #51702I like Steve Mellish (nice bloke too…). Very quick with observations and clearly does do his homework
Wouldnt like to sit opposite him when hes eating spaghetti bolognese and having a rant at the same time :o

April 20, 2007 at 15:44 #51707Yes, I’m an arrogant twat madman marz, and I have no interest in your opinion at al:cool:
April 21, 2007 at 19:31 #51709Aussie Jim’s in action at Wolves tonight, if anyone wants a laugh go to the ATR website and watch a recording of the 7.15, a 10 runner 5 furlong sprint in which 2 of the runners including the well backed 2nd fav barely came out of the stalls before both refused to race. McGrath was oblivious to this fact throughout the entire race and even called "A good even despatch" at the start of the race. Well worth a watch
April 21, 2007 at 19:49 #51710:o
Oh my I smell blood.
