I shouldn’t really have a bet here, as I just want to see Paisley Park win, but I’ve bet Marie’s Rock at 7-1.
January 23, 2024 at 01:16 #1678242I’ve bet Dashel Drasher for Stayers, so don’t need to see him win here, as long as he runs well.
Botox Has isn’t the type of profile I’d look at, but the booking of Caoilin Quinn is enough to keep me interested.
The two who appeal most though for betting are Noble Yeats, snd Flight Deck. Noble Yeats was 16’s earlier, but I missed it. He’s the type who I actually think might run better if he runs in The Stayers, while this just might be the best time to catch Flight Deck.
He’s from an unfashionable yard, but I’ve really liked him this year, and he’s got a half decent race in him.
If Dashel Drasher drifts, and I hope he does, then I’ll bet him, but for now, it’s Flight Deck for me, just ahead of Noble Yeats.
Hoping that I can beat the current 16’s, later in week
Flight Deck
January 23, 2024 at 15:02 #1678267I’m hoping Noble Yeats travels over and think he’s got a decent shout if Mullins has him fit enough.
A lot of these staying hurdlers are very long in the tooth now and hes getting 6lb from the main contenders at 11st 2lb.
He beat Dashel Drasher over fences last season giving him 4lb so he’s 10lb better off here.January 23, 2024 at 15:24 #1678269It’s not always easy translating fences form over hurdles off a lower mark as Eldorado Allen showed us a couple of weeks back.
January 23, 2024 at 18:43 #1678283Strong Leader 14’s
ran like a pig last time, can’t string two good efforts together since Jan 2023. Good run, poor, good, poor, good and poor. Pretty consistent eh..
Was only a point difference in the betting to Maries Rock prior to the Rekeel
Twice the price for this. Led the last two races but think he’ll be held up at this distanceGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 23, 2024 at 19:15 #1678289Botox Has dropped back into a Grade 2.
The more I know the less I understand.
January 24, 2024 at 20:34 #1678389I’m going to bet old Paisley Park here, but I’m confident that come the weekend I can get better than 7-2
January 25, 2024 at 13:52 #1678460That 16’s a distant memory now for Noble Yeats. Can’t bring myself to bet him. I’ll cover Dashel Drasher in some shape or form.
Pleased I waited with Flight Deck. Taking the three places, I think he’ll surprise
Flight Deck 25’s EW 3Pls
January 25, 2024 at 19:06 #1678495There’s quite a bit of money coming for him VTC. I got the 16s on him with WH and £5 at 32s with their epic boost.
Not getting too excited though as I’m not a great fan of Mullins.
January 25, 2024 at 20:06 #1678503Its interesting Noble Yeats has two entries at Cheltenham and neither are the Gold Cup; the Stayers and the Cross Country. I think a decent win here and they’ll have to go stayers otherwise you’d imagine it’ll be Cross Country with the rest of the mob being aimed at Aintree. He’s a hard one to weigh up because on what he did over fences last season finishing 4th in a Gold Cup and Grand National off near enough top weight you’d say he’s a horse with loads more ability than these and he’s probably operating near his peak when most of them are on the way down. Trouble is we have no idea if he’s actually any good over hurdles because it was never seriously on his agenda and the comeback was over a trip too short. I wouldn’t be paying to find out now but fair play to those on at bigger, knowing the yard we’ll probably know his fate by the off as he’ll either be fav or double figures.
Nathan I might be wrong but I think Strong Leader wants decent ground (good-soft at worst) and it was pretty bad in the Relkeel so I’m giving him a pass there. The alternative is he doesn’t like Cheltenham which would obviously be a negative if so. I wasn’t impressed with his jumping in the Coral Hurdle but more with his attitude and the pieces go on and hopefully they help sharpen the jumping up. I think he’ll stay and might still be on the up back on a sounder surface. He’ll do for me in a trappy affair, any double figures is fine.

January 27, 2024 at 12:16 #1678688Have to add Dashel Drasher, as he drifts (as usual). Best price 11-2 just now, but confident I can get better if I hold off
Dashel Drasher
Flight Deck 25’s EW 3PlsJanuary 27, 2024 at 12:35 #1678695NY has been getting markedly outpaced at this trip (and longer) over fences all of last year, so a drop to 3m hurdling and in a race that will likely be more tactically run (even with Dashel making the running) I think could highlight that trait even more………his chance will likely depending on how close he can stay in touch coming down the hill to alloy his superior stamina to then kick in coming back up it.
Dashel will appreciate a return back to Cheltenham but even allowing for that and him being worse off at the weights here like he was at Ascot (from Newbury), I was a little disappointed that he got left behind at Ascot. Champ will have to buck his worrying trend of the last few season of running his best race first time out and then his form tailing off thereafter……I don’t trust him to do that especially at the age of 12.
Even though he is also 12, Paisley really has to take advantage here coming off his great last run (he certainly won’t get a better opportunity to win another big race than today) but he also has the same getting outpaced at a vital stage problem (especially coming down the hill at Cheltenham) and while that did clearly happen at Newbury, it didn’t at Ascot last time.
January 27, 2024 at 13:23 #1678712My old fav Paisley Park, for me
January 27, 2024 at 13:24 #1678713I have to have a bet on Paisley Park now, with Marie’s Rock not running
January 27, 2024 at 13:51 #1678726LD73, 3m over hurdles often requires more stamina than chasing.
That’s why a lot of the greats tended to be horses who ran behind the bit.
