Just got back from Cartmel and have witnessed a truly superb ride from McCoy, and I am not taking through my pocket as I bet a loser in the race.
The horse was Two Miles West and I am sure many other jockeys would have given up on the horse. It made mistakes and dropped to last, needed repeated coaxing and even over the last looked as if it was booked for fourth. Got up in the last few strides. Absolutely brilliant !
After all the major successes in his career his professionalism and desire to win, even in minor events is unbelievable.
Watch the race if you get a chance.

Foiled West Cumbria’s own Flying Doctor, Flying Doctor under Nicky Richards achieved nothing, transfered to Workington under Britain’s youngest ever trainer Elliot Cooper and he has performed very very well with the horse would of won of his highest ever mark today but McCoy foiled the Doc, will make a good novice chaser I reckon. A year ago Flying Doctor would have been pulled up after a mile 6 in a race like this.

It was a good ride. Wether he’s done you good or not you have to say you always get your moneys worth with McCoy on board.

He beat my horse in the midlands national and will never forget his ride on the late Wichita Lineman at Cheltenham 09. But i think one of his best rides was on 2nd place Forpadydeplasterer in the QMCC 10

Was also at God’s own Cartmel today (to the surprise of none of the regulars here!) and can also vouch for what a superlative ride it was.

The hope in racing something like Two Miles West at Cartmel is always that the tight turns and quirky feel to the place will at the very least keep a tricky, borderline ADHD case such as himself amused and at the very most inspire him. It was doing nothing of the sort, and the effort in taking that contest was the rider’s and the rider’s alone. The back-slaps and whooping cheers accorded him afterwards could hardly have been better earned.

How do you think my No Panic performed chaps?. I couldnt make the visit owing to a family wedding at 3.0pm. ( would have been my first time there). My heart was at Cartmel though all through the hymns. Watched the replay today and delighted we were able to fend off the challenge of AP ,comfortably enough in the end.
