It goes without saying that this is not a race to wade into at this stage, as it’s chock full of runners with Multiple entries…..

Market leader Dallas De Pictons has been getting mentioned for this for a good while now, and I can’t argue with him at all.

There are about three dozen I like in this, but it would only be a lazy copy and paste from The Coral Cup thread if I did mention them, so I’ll stick with a quick mention of a couple from the Elliot yard who catch the eye.

Earlier in the season, I put up Tintangle as a Novice Hurdler who they could have some fun with, and I still think that’s the case. Holds an entry for The Mares, and I suppose it’s a worry that Gigginstown don’t have another representative for that race, but I’m hoping that she’s not going to go that route. This is her only entry other than that, and I just think she’s got loads more to offer than what she’s confirmed so far. Very interesting contender at 33’s.

Western Honour is another who caught the eye, when running very well in a strong race at Cork in January, and he’s getting a spin round Ayr tomorrow. That should tell us plenty, and I’d certainly have no concerns with the near two week turnaround, as last years winner Blow By Blow was also given a spin I think he’s very interesting, but I’ll be watching the run at Ayr closely.

I may be forced to play Western Honour early, but common sense would surely suggest holding off in this one, but for now, the early fancies, amongst a cast of thousands, are…..

    Western Honour 40’s

Notice that Thomas Darby is entered up here and, off 140, is pretty likely to get a run (136 needed last year, 135 previous 3 renewals).

    Éclair De Beaufeu 25/1 NRNB

Progressive horse who’s well experienced, he’s a big price if he goes here. Been running over 2 miles, including a good second behind Sam’s Profile and a couple of wins. Last run he was a staying on fourth behind Off You Go. Step up to 2 and a half will be perfect and he’ll be nicely handicapped to run well near the foot of the weights.

Fancy Tully East wherever he goes. Either here or Coral Cup!

It’s probably going to be a popular selection on the day but Dallas Des Pictons is the handicap ‘banker’ of the week here lads.

Could be a bit special. I’d like to think he’d win this and then go on to bigger things next season.

I don’t really play the handicaps before decs but surely 40/1 about Blu Cavalier is far too big. Firstly, they could get Jonjo O’Neill Jr to ride and secondly he was 3rd in the Betfair Hurdle but had form over this trip with Nicholls last season. Nudged up 2lbs, I would’ve thought he’s pretty decent eachway value despite not being a novice. He’s still lightly raced for a 9 year-old. He has entries over 2 miles in the Imperial Cup and County Hurdle as well.

Uradel, DDP, Tully East, Getareason. Canardier, Early Doors etc etc.

Very heavily weighted towards the Irish and bloody competitive!

On Tully East + Early Doors.

DDP could be a grade 1 horse in a handicap, but at 6-1 i’ll probably let him win if so.

Mount Mews was a decent hurdler and just never convinced over fences.
Can’t desert Getareason either; he was on the back foot last time but finished well and they’ve got rid of the hood.

Good luck for the last race :good:
