You get too hung up on trainers views regarding trip mike, theres a million examples from every trainer you could pick out, her form over 2m is plenty fine and her performance today would likely have won had she not done what she did, (not taking away from winner she could have found plenty) but to finish 2nd after that and get as close as she did, is almost as crazy as her antics
January 29, 2022 at 22:13 #1580543Hung up lol? I was just passing on the info. ;o)
On this occasion they may be right.
January 29, 2022 at 22:29 #1580548That was the reason you gave me earlier as to why shed be better over further, was replying to that, i never listen to the trainers in regards to that type of thing, townend sat on her today because she had the best chance of winning from the yards perspective (he absolutely can get it wrong and there could have been very little in the choice also so it doesnt guarantee anything and as pied piper proves again, homework isnt always that important)
Regardless if your on AVD youd have to be happy with her, she looks to have a great shout in this now and shes very straightforward
January 29, 2022 at 22:30 #1580549Most winners of this seem to end up being 2 and a half milers anyway
The way the course sets up with very little jumping in the last 7f plays to the strength of horses that stay well
So thats not a reason to rule a horse out at all
January 30, 2022 at 09:31 #1580614Brandy Love is keen and bouncy, could say it’s in the name
January 30, 2022 at 12:38 #1580652It’s ok jumping to your left and saying “ah going left will help” but Brandy Love’s jumping left was incredibly violent at times. Personally don’t think Cheltenham will iron that out as perfectly as you guys seem to think. There might even be a problem there IMO.
She does clearly have talent, but i actually agree with Mike, and it’s not just trainer quotes, i believe Brandy Love is more of a Mount Ida, Colreevy type than a Mares Novice type. One for chasing and will excel there. ADV will probably be a proper chaser as well but, i think she’s further along in her racing progression and is much straighter for March 2022.
I don’t think that’s even debatable and it’s not like BL has tonnes of time to learn before March.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 30, 2022 at 13:06 #1580657Shes only done it once so far, is an important point here, she went left round naas fine FTO, theres more evidence to suggest it will iron it out than it wont, im not certain it will, but theres more evidence to suggest ittl be fine than it wont
I dont see the chaser analysis on breeding either, im sure she will jump a fence just fine, AVD looks more a chaser to me and you typically wouldnt send a horse who can act so violently over a fence, would you? Cant see it
January 30, 2022 at 13:12 #1580658What’s the evidence it will Ham? At the end of the day it was violent at times. Not just a slight jink or anything. In time maybe but in a month?
What part of her pedigree doesn’t suggest she’ll be a chaser? The main angle i’m getting at is i think she’s more of a next year horse, like Colreevy and Mount Ida. Look at the winners of this, they don’t tend to be their types. Even tmsg coming from a ptp background had 9 runs beforehand. Just the feeling i get with BL, she’s nowhere near the finished article and that’ll catch her out.
I’d be shocked if she’s not chasing in time Ham. They probably both will, but i’d sooner see BL over them next year myself- especially if what i’m seeing is correct and ADV wins here.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 30, 2022 at 22:43 #1580717Her first run left handed was fine, her first run right handed wasnt, theres been no signs of it in 4/5 runs, seems sensible to put a line through it until she does it again going left handed, given whoever rides her will likely drop her in amongst company this time, also leaning into the rail, until she does it again at 8s im happy to forgive anyway, no guarantees ofc
Like i said im sure she will jump a fence fine, but if shes as mad as you think, she will never see a fence to jump. I dont have a real opinion on her going over fences but i dont see why she would be any better suited currently
I guess the deciding factor will probably be what she does here, if she wins well, ittl likely be the hurdle route, if she goes nuts, breeding shed lol
February 10, 2022 at 16:08 #1582374Cashed out Elle Est Belle. Skelton quoted as saying the two-and-a-half mile Grade 1 at Aintree is the likelier option.
February 13, 2022 at 15:42 #1583027Can’t see past the top two in the market, imo if Brandy Love can get rid of those crazy mistakes then she wins this, if she does make those mistakes again then I find it very hard to be confident in anything other than ADV taking advantage and getting the win.
