Lovely bit of 12s a few weeks ago , one of my better chelt bets , CH is going to get a walkover..
December 11, 2022 at 14:50 #1626576“She’s great, not a bother on her. She seems really well and ran really well we felt.
“You just wonder whether two-and-a-half on that heavy ground against that level of horse (caught her out). They’re mid-160s horses and as it got softer, I felt Teahupoo was coming more and more into the race after what he did in Gowran in the Red Mills Hurdle, and Klassical Dream is a very good horse.
“I thought between the second-last and the last she had it put to bed and I just wonder did she get found out stamina wise on the softer ground, but who knows?
“She’s brilliant and owes us nothing. We’re in bonus territory – it’s incredible what she’s done. We’ve had a lot of fun with her and I don’t think it’s finished yet.”
He added: “We can look at the Mares’ Hurdle, that’s always another option. It would be very much in my mind. My job is to try to find the race I think she can win.
“If connections want to do something else I’ll wholeheartedly do that as well, so we’ll see. That’s all a long way away and everybody has to get there.
“Let’s see how we go in the Irish Champion Hurdle.
As suspected looks like it’ll depend on how she runs next time
December 11, 2022 at 15:58 #1626585Honeysuckle has been regressing over the last year, better to retire when she is still healthy
December 11, 2022 at 15:59 #1626586He knows she can’t beat CH , they,ll want her go out a winner , he sees her everyday , she,s regressed , maybe not loads ,but is it enough for Epanante to give her a race ?
December 11, 2022 at 16:55 #1626597Fav now and I think it’s likely rather than possible that – 2 months before the Festival starts – we will have 4 odds on chances on day 1 alone: Facile Vega: Jonbon: Honeysuckle: Constitution Hill.
December 11, 2022 at 17:01 #1626600As long as it’s not a bog then the bookies could take a doing …what does that 4 timer pay ?
December 11, 2022 at 17:29 #1626601Fair play to those already on, I thought she was more likely to retire than run in this.
Sounds like that isn’t the case.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 11, 2022 at 19:47 #1626605If Honeysuckle is going backwards, the value now might well be in Epatante.
December 11, 2022 at 20:11 #1626606It might well be a good race esp if one of the younger horses step up
December 24, 2022 at 19:31 #1627997Can’t see honeysuckle running here. She nearly got beat in the hattons Grace a couple years back by Ronald pump and I don’t think her loss in it this time is far off that form. She improved dramatically for that next time out so I suspect she will win next time and she would have to go for the champion hurdle then. Epatante did win over 2m4f but that was at aintree and I’m still not fully convinced she wants that trip and is getting on a bit now.
I think brandy love is easily the one to be with as she’s got superb form despite not always getting things right. She should be even better round Cheltenham left handed.
Marie’s rock would be of interest too if definitely running here.January 8, 2023 at 11:05 #1630141Backed Love Envoi at 11/2 after her win at Sandown yesterday.
Marie’s Rock deserves to be favourite but is maybe just a bit short now.
I am still not convinced Honeysuckle will run here despite De Bromhead’s comments before Christmas. If she wins at Leopardstown, she has to go for the Champion. If she loses, I think it is more likely she will be retired that come here. If she is regressive, is she going to win this anyway?
Epatante clearly has a chance but I wonder if she is quite so good nowadays. She got 2m 4f on a flat, fast track at Aintree but I am not convinced she has the stamina needed for the Cheltenham Hill.
Love Envoi looks like the up and coming force in this division.
January 8, 2023 at 11:23 #1630143“If she loses, I think it is more likely she will be retired than come here.”
Would be an odd decision to my mind to just give up unless she is thrashed/pulls up.
“If she is regressive, is she going to win this anyway?”
That depends how she runs and how you wanna look at it. How good would Maries Rock, Brandy Love or Love Envoi be in a 2m Irish Champion Hurdle?
“Epatante clearly has a chance but I wonder if she is quite so good nowadays.”
She may not need to be, especially if Honeysuckle goes Champion Hurdle. Been following Constitution Hill home all season. As for the trip, looked to have plenty in the tank coming to the last at Aintree to me so we’ll see about Cheltenham.
“Love Envoi looks like the up and coming force in this division.”
She could be though all her graded wins have been on soft or heavy.
January 8, 2023 at 11:54 #1630146The owners are already beginning to intimate honeysuckle may retire if beaten again at the drf
The likely order given was
Champion hurdle
Retirement
Mares HurdleEpatante wont get up the hill over 2m4f imo
Stayed the trip in a slowly run race at Aintree, didn’t get the trip in a stronger run race at punchestown
Love Envoi looked good yesterday but martello sky wasn’t travelling from miles out and was beaten similarly by miranda
I’m very happy with my Marie’s rock selection, 8s was an insulting price for the reigning champ and punchestown winner.
Less happy that Brandy love arrived into the yard late and still hasn’t even had an entry let alone a run
But Brandy absolutely battered love envoi at fairyhouse going the wrong way round for her so happy to see love envoi running well to Frank that form.
January 8, 2023 at 12:10 #1630149Marie’s rock would get lapped in a champion hurdle , think your being hard on Epatante , in my eyes she,s being prepped for this and I reckon she’ll get up the hill fine
January 8, 2023 at 12:31 #1630151If this was over the same trip as the champion I’d get your point
Epatante is a 2 miler in my eyes
Maries rock a 2m4f specialist
Who’s already beaten epatante and looks to have improved again since
Just waiting on Brandy love now
Might be a chance allegorie de vasy goes back over hurdles ala benie des dieux if Brandy love is a no show
January 8, 2023 at 12:43 #1630152FF91 as I mentioned previously Epatante had done Cheltenham Aintree and Punchestown last season. Was she over the top at Punchestown rather than it being that she didn’t stay? Many horses have lost their best form after Cheltenham going to Aintree, let alone Cheltenham and Aintree then Punchestown.
January 8, 2023 at 12:43 #1630153FF I think all the willie mullins lads are on Allegorie De Vassy for the mares chase so don’t think he’ll turn her back to hurdles – she was always going to make a better chaser and though Mullins has done this sort of switcharoo before, I can’t see it this time.
I agree about Brandy Love though she is a bit of a freak!
