Epatante and Brandy Love head the market at the moment. Marie’s Rock and last year’ winner Love Enovi are the next two. Queens Brook and Echoes in Rain are other interesting candidates.

However, after yesterday I’ve backed Honeysuckle. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her dodge Constitution Hill to keep the streak alive.

    Honeysuckle 12/1

BRANDY LOVE for me. Quirky but very good. Hoping a summer on her back plus another year older with the left-handed track at Cheltenham calms her down as she has got some engine and the likelihood for improvement in spades.

    Brandy Love 7/1 :good:

I’m on brandy love and Marie’s rock

Happy to take on the regressive epatante who I’m not sure will stay a strongly run 2m4f at Cheltenham

    Surely honeysuckle won’t run

It’ll be champion hurdle or retirement imo

“Happy to take on the regressive epatante”

Regressed for a Champion Hurdle, not for this race surely. :o)

Rated higher than Brandy Love and Marie’s Rock so should be bang there. As for not staying in March, we shall see.

They are young, their ratings are going up

Brandy love in particular has scope to improve enormously

Epatantes isn’t the horse she was and I have big stamina doubts. The race she won at Aintree was slowly run and completely fell apart. Marie’s rock already outstayed her once in a well run race and that was round a speed track at punchestown.

Marie’s rock gets little to no credit for winning both the main mares races last season

    8/1 on her is insulting

Epatante is only one year younger than Maries Rock and 9 isn’t too old for Cheltenham. And don’t forget Epatante took in Cheltenham and Aintree before Punchestown. I’m prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she wasn’t at her best at Punchestown.

Epanate was 2nd in the Champion hurdle …. Nothing else here could have done that , I reckon 5s is a fair price ….evens a place is banker stuff surely

As Mike is basically saying Punchestown can throw funny results. Early to label Epatante regressive?

    Wouldn’t back her myself currently.

She’s definitely regressed her rating has dropped 8lb in the last 2 seasons

Not surprising as she’s been racing since she was 3

Hopefully she runs in the contenders hurdle on Saturday will give us more of an idea where she is at this season

I’d debate whether she has regressed as much as 8lbs.

She had a bad season where they put it down to a back problem which she had surgery on. I think since then her forms been pretty level and hasn’t shown signs of being on a downward curve since?

Personally i think time has shown her CH win to have been a very winnable year, and we know the handicapper likes to give a nice rating regardless for these races. She looked electric, but i doubt she was much better than her normal really.

De Bromhead on RTV says the Mares Hurdle is being considered as an option for Honeysuckle. It will be no surprise if she ends up here.

Added Honeyuckle 5-1 for now. HDB has just said Honeysuckle a possible for this as well.

“My job is to try to find the race I think she can win.”

    This race it is then

I thought it was very significant when De Bromhead said that.

The first tacit acknowledgment that she cannot defeat Constitution Hill?

If she wins the Irish champion hurdle it would be a disgrace if she runs here

If she loses to state man or something then fair enough coming here
