They should rename the race he made his own today and run it in his honour every year.
Courage such as Many Clouds showed today should never be forgotten.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 28, 2017 at 16:11 #1284255I had the pleasure of watching from the centre of the course at Kelso last March as Many Clouds put in an exhilarating round of jumping.
A storming jumps race turned to tragedy in a matter of minutes.
January 28, 2017 at 16:13 #1284257As I’ve said on a couple of threads in here, I’m devastated by this. One
of the bravest horses you will ever see and I’m so sorry for the connections
and all in the yard, they will be in shock.I think that would be a very fitting idea Jac, he would deserve it to be in
his name, it would only add to any future runnings of the race. RIP Many CloudsJanuary 28, 2017 at 16:13 #1284258Too sad. A wonderfully brave horse and so tragic for all concerned.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
January 28, 2017 at 16:20 #1284261Dreadful news, my thoughts go out to connections and the lads/lasses that look after him each day. He was one of the true great racehorses of our generation.
January 28, 2017 at 16:27 #1284262A real tragedy! I know it’s the nature of the game and all that but how cruel for his life to be taken in such circumstances…
From a moment of absolute joy and jubilation at a thrilling win to sheer devastation in a matter of minutes…
Was a lovely interview from Lydia with Ollie Sherwood, almost brought a tear to the eye…my thoughts go out to all connected to the horse on such a sad day…

Courage such as Many Clouds showed today should never be forgotten.Absolutely agree with that idea.
A great horse who should be commemorated, like all the best who gave everything for our pleasure and entertainment.
Terribly sad, but surely better than a broken leg or back to end his life. And hopefully less painful and distressing than, say, colic or chronic lameness. It has to happen for all of us sometime. At least he didn’t know it was coming, or happening. I think that’s what many of us would wish for.
RIP Many Clouds. Good old lad, that’s how to go out on a high.
January 28, 2017 at 16:51 #1284270I was worried about this race all day and didn’t watch it, but this was so unexpected. A real, proper chaser; a superb jumper of a fence with a heart like a lion. RIP Many Clouds. I just hope that Thistecrack wins the GC and your spirit will be running alongside him. Will any of us ever look at a cloud again and not think of him? RIP
January 28, 2017 at 16:52 #1284272There is nothing I can add to this thread that would make it better.
Such a sad sad outcome to a wonderful race and a wonderful career!!
Tears shed by both members of this household for a true national hunt horse who never gave less than one hundred per cent.
January 28, 2017 at 16:54 #1284274Tears shed in this household can’t even begin to convey the sadness felt!!
Another superstar in heaven
January 28, 2017 at 17:52 #1284289it would be ironic and an honour for me to see Many Clouds sitting on top of my national hunt speed figures at the end of the day, a fitting tribute to a wonderful horse.
Many Clouds and Thistlecrack now top my national hunt list with speed figures of 146…
Mike.
January 28, 2017 at 18:38 #1284299TAPK’s tribute to a Great horse was to spend his winnings on a Good wine and toast his memory.RIP pal I knew you could win today.
January 28, 2017 at 19:13 #1284301Absolutely gutted and still am. I was willing him up the hill to beat Thistlecrack. A horse who never knew how to give in. Put a total dampener on a cracking day’s racing. RIP Many Clouds

Courage such as Many Clouds showed today should never be forgotten.Great idea Jac. There was none more courageous than him. RIP Many Clouds
January 28, 2017 at 19:26 #1284303I was a little disappointed to see Thistlecrack lose but that soon paled into complete insignificance seeing the screens going around Many Clouds and hearing the awful news.
RIP brave Warrior….

Hope it happens homer.
I’m sure they will think of a fitting tribute to him.
Still very upset here at home thinking about him, it’s going to take some time.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 28, 2017 at 19:57 #1284310I just feel so sad to have lost my favourite horse. Since watching him win a Wetherby bumper and running well in the Aintree bumper I thought he’d be very good once he strengthened up and for once I was right. I owe him for two great days when I backed him in the Hennessy and National but sorry I never thought he’d beat Thistlecrack so what a way to go out. What more can you ask than to jump beautifully , stay all day and give you’re all every time you run…what a horse! RIP Many Clouds.
