On the pages of the good qualty meeting at Newmarket only Ladbrokes concentrate on todays meeting. Meanwhile Hills advert concentrates on the “big match” Aberdeen v St Johnstone as well as Valencia v Alaves while Betfred also concentrate on the “big match” as well as a golf tournament in America. No mention of the racing in either.

Corals also like the football and golf and throw in a bit of NFL but they do mention a bit of racing in that they will give you your money back as a free bet if your horse is beaten by a length or less (£25 max) and one quarter the odds all races at Newmarket (not available in shop of course though for both).

Don’t what happened to Paddy Power’s advert, think they must be saving their money and concentrating on their FOBT’s.

Just another example of the bookmakers priorities and their lack of promotion of horse racing. Not that they lay bets anyway.

How long is horse racing going to allow itself to be held to ransom by people who have no real interest in the good health of the sport?

Yet another negative bookmaker post from you Yeats, but what is your alternative?
56 views and this the first response, are punters that bothered?

It might be disappointing, but if bookmakers can get more money from advertising football and other sports – why shouldn’t they be allowed to go with them?
If bookmakers could make more money on horse racing, then their “priorities” would surely be different?

Do you want a Paris Mutuel system? Boring.
Do you want a monopoly which presumaly would result in absolutely no choice for the punter? How is that to punters benefit?

I once gave you an alternative which I seem to remember you rubbished.

Give us your total alternative Yeats.

Aren’t they preaching to the converted advertising racing on the racing pages of a racing paper? If you’re looking at the RP, chances are you’ve either bought it or are in a bookies. Surely it would make some deal of sense to advertise racing in the sport section at the back and vice versa (although admittedly I guess the reverse doesn’t happen much, haven’t read it in ages).

They seem to have this idea that we will a) punt on anything that moves and b) have endless money for said punting on anything that moves which I assume is the logic behind the advertising placement.

Unlike you I do not crave attention for my posts. I’m not quite sure that punters aren’t that bothered in your opinion is a good barometer of anything.
How many responses has such an important issue as WFA received?

How many punters on here have referred to the fraud by bookmakers regards the 2.55 at Pontefract yesterday that cheated punters?

How ironic on the same day the BHA announce a data link-up to clamp down on fraud they make no comment at all on punters being defrauded by bookmakers and neither does the disgraceful Racing Post regards the Ponty race. Both on the bookies payroll of course.

Even Olly Bell on RUK was taken aback by the open fraud (not unique either) to say “Who is protecting punters in cases like this?” The answer is no one.
