Expecting the same fate for walking on air who went wrong in the home straight first time round

Horrible to see … some dreadful falls/brought downs … not good race at all … fingers crossed for Walking On Air …

I was very worried for Macdermott when I saw him being pulled up and then running through the rails. Suspected heart attack looking at it.

I knew The Kniphand fell but didn’t realise how bad it was. Also worried for Walking On Air.

And people blame the Aintree fences.

The race was not a pleasant watch. It looked like Macdermott went down in the back of the camera shot, so I was fearing the worst for him. And The Kniphand’s fall was very heavy. RIP to them both.

Fingers very much crossed that Walking On Air and all the other equine and human participants are OK.

Even if I say I’ll never watch another NH race dreadful days like this will still happen, this was such a brutal race from the first fence onwards. They seemed to be going so fast.

The stewards report says that Walking On Air was lame on his right hind.

So sad when a horse returns to the scene of its greatest triumph only to lose its life. NTD’s horse was such a promising staying chaser: the sort of horse that the stable excels in.
