Really disappointing(although not unexpected) news that Lucy has had to retire after failing to overcome the bad back injury she received at Newcastle around eighteen months ago.
Lucy really had the world at her feet around five years ago but a succession of injuries derailed her career.
I believe she has just taken up a role at Andrew Baldings so hopefully all goes well and maybe she’ll take over from her dad in the future.
April 21, 2022 at 22:27 #1595074That is a shame. Hope that the role at the Andrew Balding stable will bring good opportunies for her in the future. Should be an interesting place to work with plenty of good horses.
April 22, 2022 at 05:18 #1595141I had wondered at the start of the season if she was going to make it back , fingers crossed she can make a career in training
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 22, 2022 at 20:24 #1595262I’m sure she’ll do well at whatever equestrian field she pursues. Really talented horse-person with a great family behind her and wish her all the luck for the future.

April 22, 2022 at 21:00 #1595272I think the stable had their best season ever without her. In 20/21 she only won 2 races from 32 rides for them. Probably she is fantastic at schooling, but not really a necessity on the track.
Good luck to her for the future.
