I didn’t get much luck Ante Post.
I was convinced Vautour would go Gold Cup after the King George and it was a shame that Cue Card fell because where ever he had finished you could of put Vautour about 5 lengths ahead. Quick going, Cheltenham a course he thrives on and it being left handed all in his favour as opposed to Kempton.
I chipped away at UDS for the best part of a year and consider myself slightly unlucky in that Sprinter Sacre returned to a very high standard after a poor season the year before after being out injured the year before that. Henderson done a grand job. I thought UDS would handle the quicker going better than he did so an error on my part there. Ruby was either thinking he just had to fiddle the fences and stand up to win or UDS didn’t jump well, either way I think Ruby should of attacked the fences more.
The damage wasn’t too bad as a lot of bets on him were re-cycled bets from winnings so playing with the bookies money turning it over putting on a little and playing again as opposed to keep loading from my pocket. I find chipping away I don’t feel the lose as bad over a course of time rather than saving say £500 and lumping on the day I would be gutted. Think that makes sense.
It work last year with Faugheen but not this year, I still enjoyed the challenge of getting a decent sum on over the year without feeling the loss and will do so again but with much more caution, already had bits and pieces on Douvan for the Champion Chase.
Funny enough it has been my best Cheltenham for day to day betting.

Succinctly put Joe…The Irony of that was what prompted me to do a ‘Cheltenham Certainty’ as backing Mullins horses Ante-Post is a nightmare,if ever a Trainer was in it for himself its Willie…’Yorkhill/Supreme’…’Bellshill/Neptune’….’Shaneshill/JLT’…’Black Herc/4m ch’…Annie Power/Mares..’Vautour/Gold Cup all well backed Ante-Post never ran in any of the above. The guy not only lies to the public he lies to his owners too.Already having seen the machine Yorkhill romp home,Willie says Champion hurdle and Ruby says he’d win the Arkle with his mouth open….So its the JLT then with both their mouths firmly shut.I’ve already backed next years ‘Supreme’ Winner at 20/1…Battleford but being the legendary king I’ll be on for the Neptune when he’s priced up for it….Helps that this ones a Graham Wylie owned horse a guy I’ve always like since Arcalis paid for my first Armani jacket.Ante-Post betting is in my blood so I’m used to the ups and downs both provoke strong emotion especially when an absolute racing certainty falls when his Jockey has a meltdown..£5k of Ante-Post winnings went with it…My first thought though was Paddys just lost over a £100k…..Onwards and Upwards for me pal.

steeplechasing, nice photo of a well kept grave there.

Not to divert the topic from its purpose but I’m curious to know how you arrived at the year 1711 for the birth of ante post.

It was stuck in my head as some significant date: I think maybe the monarch declaring Ascot open or something. AP betting probably predates it

There may be a reduction in future Ante Post bets, but do you think there will be a substantial increase in Mullins/Walsh ‘easy money’ accumulators?

Willie shows a 52.69% return on investment on his front two in the market, over the last three Cheltenhams at Betfair SP.

    17-39…43.59%…+20.55 points (after commission)

    Just wait.

According to oddschecker racebets are NRNB for the 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup
It doesn’t state that on racebets site so I am sending them an email to double check
