Approaching the final hurdle there was only one horse that was going to win that race!
February 22, 2009 at 21:01 #211771Absolute superstar on a course that doesn’t seem to suit. Struggled a little round the tight bends but his courage is becoming legendary.
WHAT A HORSE!!February 22, 2009 at 21:02 #211772Unbelievable.
February 22, 2009 at 21:12 #211773Lough Derg strikes again

For what it’s worth, Pierrot Lunaire ran a great race in 2nd. Where will PN send him now? Seems to have taken to the extra distance very well
February 22, 2009 at 21:17 #211774Before this year I’ve thought that Lough Derg was a lucky horse. Sometimes winning races where he’s got a soft lead, other times when others have gone for home too soon (like in this race last year). However this year I’ve changed my mind and now believe he is better than most results suggest.
It seems to me that he likes to have his nose in front, without particularly needing to be lengths to the good. Liking the company of other horses which is why he tends to idle.
In fact, in todays race he had the form to win quite easily, but we know Lough Derg is never going to do that.

Value Is EverythingFebruary 22, 2009 at 21:22 #211775Unbelievable.
It would be Ian, if he didn’t do the same thing every time.

Indeed, what a horse.
Not sure Pierrot stayed the trip and may be able to improve back at 2m.
Was this a boost for Kasbah Bliss (Hills Of Aran) or not?

Not sure whether the Kasbah/Aran form mattered today. Kasbah Bliss was said to of needed the run last week and still eased past Hills of Aran as soon as he wanted.
Lough Derg was a long way behind Big Bucks and Punchestowns at Cheltenham.
It’s going to be one of those ‘hit and hope’ ones in regards to which side is the best form for the World Hurdle IMO. Kasbah is classy as you like though
February 22, 2009 at 22:39 #211787I’m been out all day and just checking the results i can’t believe the 5/2 sp.
February 23, 2009 at 00:30 #211801Another "edge of my seat screaming at the telly" run
Thank you Lough Derg for giving me that pleasure. - AuthorPosts
