Quite a straightforward one for me here, and went with Beauport

Placed in it last year, but not sure he’s quite in the same form this year. Chance he’ll go bigger, but started at the 25’s anyway

Edit – Topped up to four places, and Doddiethegreat added

    Beauport 28’s EW4Pls
    Doddiethegreat 22’s

I expect more from Potters Charm, he is my initial choice at 12/1.
Nemean Lion would be my 2nd choice as he ran a brilliant race in the Fighting Fifth over a much shorter trip. He wasn’t tiring in the end, just didn’t have the top class 2m speed required. I think he could be suited by a 3m trip, but might not get his favoured ground.

Given Nemean Lion’s poor run in the Stayers (hasn’t run to form in 3 Cheltenham outings) I think connections will be keen to try the trip again, especially as the tongue tie seemed to help at Newcastle. I’ll wait till he’s jocked up before betting EW.

Elliott’s improver Honesty Policy, unexposed at the trip, would have a considerably easier task here than in his other entry 8 days later in Ireland, the Christmas Hurdle. Only 5, he might well prove decent as time goes by. I’ve had a fiver at 20s for The Stayers.

It’s potters charm for me. I was on him when he came down at wetherby and he looked in 2nd gear. Obviously a lot to be taken on trust but it’s clear 3m is his bag now and he’s got plenty of class.

He’s an each way steal but I’m on him to win in a double with Alexei.

Strong Leader ew 4 places. Six pounds better off with Impose Toi gives him a decent shout.

Absolutely lashing down here and weather radar ‘says’ Ascot getting the same. Tomorrow and Saturday look dry.

    “Crambo ‘s gold cup surely”

Only if you’re prepared to forgive his last run beaten 48 lengths and guess he’s the same horse as before, for the last 2 seasons he’s won first run back after the Spring.

Got to be Crambo. Loads of favourites in this, but as mentioned already this is his day. Well worth a go at a price.

Taken Strong Leader 6-1, but far from confident after the way he ran last year

Crambo looks a nice e.w play , still only 8 and he’ll surely be primed for today

I had to add Crambo at 16/1 EW. It surely is a decent price.
