Has anyone out there got an opinion on A.P’s ride on Big Bucks?
Personaly i think it was pure class, the horse obviously needed a lead & the champ made sure he got it, pure jockeyship!!!

Big Buck’s is clearly a very talented individual and a bit of a character, but I’m not convinced he’s the difficult ride pundits make him out to be.

Ruby Walsh was sublime on him when competing against the likes of Punchestowns, but when the level of competition is so vastly inferior, it doesn’t take a genius to ensure he’s first past the post – it’s just a case of making sure you don’t fall off!!

I will say this, he certainly jumped with greater fluency yesterday.

It’s amazing that Zenyatta was criticized for beating inferior opposition throughout the majority of her career, yet she went unbeaten for nearly three years and nineteen races, ridden in a similar way in her respective code.

Big Buck’s has also generally defeated inferior opposition in a nine race unbeaten streak over nearly two years, and yet is considered a champion.

I would like to see him try and continue the streak against quality opposition over fences.

He didn’t appear to do a great deal more than sit on a horse that had tons in hand. Certainly nothing worth highlighting.

Big Buck wins the way he does coz he’s the best at what he does. When he fell at the last in the Hennessy two years ago Paul Nicholls made an inspired disision to send him back over hurdles. A month later he beat Don’t Push It at Cheltenham. Time For Rupert looks abit smart now so to say he is beating nothing is rubbish.
As of AP yesterday, yes he had alot of horse under him but the point is that a good jockey knows how to use it & when to use it!
