Naughty Nancie ran in the first at Newcastle today. Her first start since 12th March 2019 at Sedgefield, when she finished last of 5 and beaten about 50 lengths.

Today, over 1,800 days later, she finished last of 9 and beaten by 60+ lengths.

I have to admire her connections’s patience and perseverance, at least. I doubt there are many horses that have reappeared after such a long absence.

Anyone placing a bet, even at 200/1, is surely now the dictionary-definition of an optimist!

Hope the horse and connections all enjoyed the experience and will return to the track soon having benefitted from that run and now being able to find a suitable race to compete in.

Well done to the team. The sport isn’t all about the superstars.

She made her debut the day the ill fated Espoir D’Allen won the Champion Hurdle. Which makes it sound a very long time ago.

Half sister got with 33 lengths of winner at Perth once , in between 132 lengths from winner and pulled up , earnt zero in half dozen or so runs , Dam won 155 quid in total . Theres optimism but in reality they need to find someone who can look after her and just wants horse to ride about a field very slowly and feed carrots to .

Allez Sea ran at The Curragh on 13/10/2022. His previous run was on 13/11/2016, a huge 2,160 days earlier.

Very sadly he slipped up after incurring what proved to be a fatal injury in running.

Although I am not saying horses should be banned from racing after such a long absence, it does make me wonder if such entries are given any additional scrutiny by the authorities as they probably should be.
