Could tomorrow be the day we see Grand Crus back to his best? The better ground will certaintly help and he’s up against lesser competition than in previous races, 11/2 is a fair price I think.
April 5, 2013 at 17:52 #435290I agree, BHison. Grands Crus on this ground sounds good to me. Dynaste winning today would dispel any doubts about David Pipe’s form, too.
April 5, 2013 at 18:20 #43529911/2 is a fair price but not overpriced. You are backing with a certain amount of blind faith in this animal on recent form. He must owe some punters a fair bit
April 5, 2013 at 18:57 #435308think the difference between dynaste and grands crus is that dynaste is here for the long run, while grands crus we might well have seen the best of
however it became clear watching his last run over fences in the argento, that grands crus had lost his confidence over the larger obstacles (he is on the small side) so going back over hurdles is clearly the right move.
April 5, 2013 at 19:15 #435313I’d take Solwhit to have beaten Grand Crus at any point at any trip over the latters career.
5/2 is a terrific price for (in my opinion) a constantly under-rated performer, who would have a boat load of Grade 1’s if that pesky Fly hadn’t been buzzing around.

I agree wholeheartedly Peruvian. He’s been running into The Fly for years and has had some great battles with him. He’s won an Aintree Hurdle in the past and is likely to get the trip imo. The Wold Hurdle was slowly run but the ground was not as good as it will be tomorrow, which should help as he’s got a good turn of foot. 5/2 looks a very big price to me as he’s the only genuine Grade 1 hose in the field. I’d have him a full point shorter.
April 5, 2013 at 20:35 #435336i’d take medinas at the prices.
April 6, 2013 at 08:19 #435425Can anybody shed some light into African Gold’s price?
I know Solwhit has the form versus the majority of this field and is a worthy fav and Grand Crus short returning price will be pushing African Gold upwards, but should he really be going off at 10/1 which some bookies have him?
I was going to place a fairly modest £50 on him to place at 2.8 this morning, but noticed it had drifted to 3.1 when i woke up so have delayed for now.
April 6, 2013 at 10:29 #435461Agree that the two horses that are overpriced are Solwhit and African Gold, have back Solwhit at a massive 11/4 and African Gold at 9/1, I’m confident they’ll have it bewteen them.

Not too much to beat but the winner looks very classy. Still cant believe a horse can come back after so long looking so good. Not sure we can ever have real match between him and Big Bucks given that age is going to catch up with one or both of them which is a shame. Its at least nice that in the big horses absence, we have a genuine grade 1 horse winning these races.
