While we all know about buyer beware regards the speed of pictures surely we should all be safe in the knowledge that Betfair suspend markets at the start of the race rather than a few seconds later after the odds on favourite has unseated James Doyle.
The horse was returned 4/5 with bookmakers and was trading at 1.98 on Betfair prior to the “start” but returned a SP of 8.3 on Betfair.
Who benefitted from this licensed thievery? Did Betfair? They are surely at least complicit. Was this a one off? Most unlikely but with the odds on favourite unseating shortly after the start, much more noticeable on this occasion.
Surely there should be some sort of investigation into this? This is something racing journalists and the Racing Post should be getting involved in rather than just ignoring. I would like to see Tony Calvin & Richard Hoiles discuss this issue on the Betting Lab tonight but wont hold my breath.
