Floats like a butterFLY but stings like a bee "Rumble young man Rumble"
"The Hurricane" by four
December 28, 2010 at 15:58 #334073Solwhit has to go from further out, and there is no obvious pacemaker.
December 28, 2010 at 17:03 #334084Does anyone know Thousand Stars objective this season…he is still my main Arkle fancy and in any other year would be a live CH outsider, this year looks a bit tough though.
Is Willie sticking to hurdles this season or is this sighter with a novice chasing campaign still possible?
Thanks.December 29, 2010 at 00:25 #334100He was in the Bord Na Móna until last week so chasing might still be on the agenda. It could be that this will just be a sighter for him tomorrow before going for a beginners chase in January. Willie has done it before with Glencove Marina who ran in the Hattons Grace before winning the Paddy Fitzpatrick novice chase at Leopardstown a month later.
The ground will be against Thousand Stars tomorrow anyway. He hated similar going last year in the Pierse before improving for a sounder surface at Cheltenham and Punchestown in the spring.
December 29, 2010 at 00:56 #334101Thanks IC, thats useful
Looking forward to him going over fences…this season hopefully.December 29, 2010 at 01:02 #334102Thousand Stars will not go novice chasing if he does not run by the end of January i believe. They plan over fences but may keep his novice status for next year if the Festival is off the agenda
December 29, 2010 at 10:02 #334118I’m sure Solwhit defeated Hurricane Fly on heavy ground last year. This could turn into quite a battle and I wouldn’t dismiss Solwhit lightly, given the ground conditions.

And where will they get 2 ton of bricks at such short notice to put on Hurricane Fly’s back to change this into anything more than a steering job?
Wins by 4 lengths… can’t you read?
December 29, 2010 at 12:11 #334133Agree with Fist, it’s extremely difficult to see Solwhit overturning the form. 4/6 looks very tasty
December 29, 2010 at 14:08 #334165That was very impressive, especially after having a race not so long ago.
Very clever from Paul Townend too, to keep Solwhit boxed in, utilising Luska Lad, just gave him that extra bit of time to make sure Hurricane Fly could win on the bridle, and to make sure that Solwhit couldn’t get a clear run.
December 29, 2010 at 14:17 #334166Impressive but race ran to suit.
Shocker from Russell again!!!!
December 29, 2010 at 14:21 #334167Can’t blame Russell, it had to try something different to turn over the Hurricane. If he had gone on earlier like he’s done in the past he would have more than likely been beaten anyway, as happened on the previous two occasions.
December 29, 2010 at 14:24 #334168Russell had to try something different. The only time he’d beaten the Mullins horse he tracked him and beat him after the last. It was worth another try. Hurricane Fly is just in a different league to Solwhit.
Please get to Cheltenham this season!!
December 29, 2010 at 14:28 #334170He wouldn’t have run either way but struggling to nab 2nd after trying to go on the inside of a front runner was crazy stuff.
He isn’t good enough but i do not think he was given much hope the way he went thru the inner.
Solwhit Novice Chasing next year would be very nice to see
