The more I look at the race, the more solid Hey Gaman looks. Happy to have taken the 4s earlier as I’m not surprised he’s fav ahead of Zaaki. Might yet still have a saver on Sir Dancealot but struggling to see the others winning this as you could make negatives against all of them. You can’t really make any negatives about Hey Gaman (maybe his size pointed out earlier on here perhaps) apart from his breeding doesn’t look anything like a 7F horse usually, but he’s proven he is in his last 3 runs.
Watching Flaming Spear closely in the market, but otherwise I will leave him alone, the only other one maybe is Space Traveller, I can see the negatives, but still he’s a Royal Ascot Jersey winner at 9/1, so maybe a saver there. Of the others, no horse in the history of the running as never tackled 7F before (16/19 were distance winners), so thats a big negative against Speak in Colours. Suedois form over 7F is 51833324423, the win being a minor 10K race, he’s likely to run his usual solid race without winning, Pretty Baby is taking a big jump up, likely to be too far and a big negative trend on Zaaki dropping back in trip. I can see Donjuan Triumphant running well if the heavens open, so I’m watching that and Breton Rock is 9 now.
So Hey Gaman for me. Possible savers/part savers on Sir Dancealot and Space Traveller.
I do really love these 7F races, it’s high time we had a 7F Group1 in the UK.
July 30, 2019 at 12:37 #1449837This does look tricky but as already said it may be best to concentrate on the seven furlong horses such as Hay Gaman and Space traveller. And at the prices had to back ST at 9/1 !!
You can actually make a case for a lot of these on different bits of form but Space Traveller (even though he may have been fortunate at Ascot) looks like seven furlong specialist and if he gets the breaks at the right time then the price looks too big to ignore!!
July 30, 2019 at 12:46 #1449838GT, whats your take on the race last year if you think there’s not much pace this year as Donjuan Triumphant went off and set a good gallop last year and the first 2 home came from the back. Why would that not likely happen again this year?
If I remember rightly, Frenchy; Spirit Of Valor and Karar and Donjuan Triumphant were the three prominent runners going in to the race but nothing really took Donjuan Triumphant on. tbh With a horse fully effective at 6f I am a little surprised Oisin didn’t try to slow it down, may be had to go fairly fast in the first couple of furlongs from the worst draw and couldn’t reign back. Had a couple of lengths lead around the turn. The reason Sir Dancealot could come from the back was Donjuan made it a reasonably even pace. However, if looking at DT’s overall form he sometimes leads but just as often tracks pace, usually races prominently but also can miss the break – so isn’t that consistent in run style. Yes, he is a possible front/prominent runner and a slower pace would help him last home. There is still rain around and that will also help. Do think this is a slightly better race and shouldn’t really be good enough, but is a big price. You’ve convinced me, Frenchy;probably under-estimated in the market.
Am now on… Hey Gamen 7/2, Pretty Baby 14/1, Suedois 11/1, half a bet on Donjuan Triumphant 37/1 (wouldn’t put anyone off forcasts involving those four) with – just in case the pace is a good one – half a saver on Zaaki 7/2.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2019 at 12:52 #1449841Anyone heard what way the winds are hitting the track yet?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 30, 2019 at 12:59 #1449844Suedois 10/1
Excellent record in this race, placed last two years and has been running well this season over wrong trips etc. Showed a cracking turn of foot LTO at Ascot and then flattened out over the stiff mile. Pieces on and back to a decent ground 7F is perfect, hopeful he’ll come down nice and late to win.
July 30, 2019 at 13:30 #1449849My weather app says they’ve had 12mil of rain?! Can anyone confirm that or dodgy app?!
Ive had a little win bet on him also now GT!
July 30, 2019 at 13:49 #1449853Pouring down with rain
Done my money on sir dancealot by the looks then
July 30, 2019 at 14:15 #1449857The ground is good from good to firm so not gone yet.
July 30, 2019 at 14:30 #1449861I’ve been switching from RTV to ITV so may have missed the wind direction. But the Goodwood straight goes from East to West and wind direction according to BBC is pretty much South to North. However, having been a member at Goodwood, it can have its own micro-climate.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2019 at 14:54 #1449874Suedois shortening a little. Good to see.
I really think he’s a cracking each way bet here. This race will collapse up front and he will be rattling home late. He loves this contest too. Two very good runs the last two years in the race. At the 9/1 I took yesterday, I’m actually very confident he’s going to go well and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the race.
July 30, 2019 at 15:02 #1449876Zaaki might pick em off. not had a bet.
July 30, 2019 at 15:10 #1449880Well done winners.
Happy to get my place with Suedois but I can’t help but be abit gutted. Came flying with a run and then was absolutely nailed from Donjuan Triumphant who went off like a 4f sprint in America and was always going to come back to them.
Suedois then ran on for third when incredibly getting going again but the bird had flown with the winner. A messy race.
July 30, 2019 at 15:11 #1449881Got first run on all the other closers and looked the winner miles out
Excellent ride from mosse, made sure he got a better sit than last year
Clearly the wind has stopped the rain from getting into the ground
July 30, 2019 at 15:16 #1449885Well done winners. Hey Gaman has one speed and that’s it!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 30, 2019 at 15:32 #1449889Well done all those who kept the faith with Elsworth.
First winner for 50+ runners, since the Fred Darling. Hey Gamen propably didn’t do his chances any good by being out alone in the wind and going after Donjuan (who was too free). That said, Sir Dancealot had the best form of all these, so right horse won.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2019 at 19:49 #1449934Absolutely kicking myself here, talked myself into doubting the trainer form when it was blind smackingly obvious. Horses for courses indeed! Had the first 2 home here as well but somehow ended up with almost no profit.
