Hi everyone. Been viewing this forum for a few years now, and it seems that got to know most of you almost “personally”and I think it’s to join in….
I didn’t notice this sad news here but was on another site a couple of days ago and learned that Shadwell’s legendary Sakhee, Europe’s 2001 horse of the year, sadly passed on 21st August due to infirmities. He was 24. I saw him in person in 2002 World Cup where he came 3rd to Street Cry. This one, from Belmont Park, is one of my favorites:
RIP Sakhee
August 31, 2021 at 21:10 #1558718Hi Turkoman

I remember Sakhee well, his jockey always in bold blue colours. The Arc that he won wasn’t the strongest, but he certainly did it in style.
It’s good that he reached a very respectable age of 24. You were very fortunate to get to see him competing in Dubai. RIP Sakhee

August 31, 2021 at 21:19 #1558721Haha, if it’s wrong I’d be happy to be corrected
I thought he started off with Hamdan al-Maktoum, and then moved to Godolphin i.e. the colours were both variations of bright blue!Edit – Which I think is what you are saying i.e. Shadwell = Hamdan al-Maktoum. I did realise that though!

Runner up to Sinndar in an above-average Derby and went on to better things thereafter.
I can’t remember a more complete annihilation of an Arc field, though I’d agree it wasn’t the strongest of Arcs that year.
