RIP Law and Order – broke fetlock at Plumpton yesterday, just 4 years old. Was probably destined for obscurity, had failed to complete in the 3 previous outings and mediocre placings on the flat. But someone should still shed a tear for him…..

Yes,I will too. Poor horse, so young, what a shame.
August 11, 2010 at 00:37 #312137Very strange that for a young (and useless (at racing!)) horse I remember watching all his races. For some reason I took a shine to him. I didn’t know he’d lost his life. True about his prospects as a race horse but I’ll think of him tonight.
August 11, 2010 at 11:31 #312177No consolation for the horse or his connections, perhaps, but good that he will remain in peoples memories. I remember seeing a horse fall in a televised race many years ago when I’d just got back into racing. I can still picture him slightly raising his head and the jockey being next to him, and I never heard of him again. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve forgotten his name. I had it written down on a slip of paper for many years. Pre computer so couldn’t check out what had happened to him. Good [albeit tinged with sadness] to know that it isn’t just the superstars that work their way into our hearts.
