Would it really be the end of the world if on a big day RUK showed just the big meeting and the rest in racing review after racing?
As it stands they will have to interrupt the first day of royal ascot with the egg and spoon races from thirsk!
As for Matt Chapman,he would be perfect for the morning line.May 9, 2014 at 22:20 #478533No more flagship of the Dross channel , Its er Punchestown now apparently or maybe Galway or Listowel …..
Had a great time at Punchestown and never miss Listowel being a native. So either of them would be good flagships. You should visit and see for yourself
As an aside, Punchestown had been courting RUK for some time until AIR pulled them into line.
May 10, 2014 at 09:26 #478594Michael , have often been to Listowel …more for the coursing …its Master Myles country ….as for Punch , I first went there in 1956….
But you get my drift about the dross channel nonetheless
Ginger …this may shock you , but I agree I must be careful for what I wish , it could get a bit messy , ….a very good post by you Sir /……in my opinion
May 10, 2014 at 12:06 #478647How many sports have 2 specialist subscription television channels? It’s all greed, greed, greed and farcical that there are two covering the sport and don’t forget the BHA wouldn’t allow RUK to become a free to air channel.
All British racing should be on one channel.
May 10, 2014 at 12:16 #478648There’s too many courses for all British racing to be on one channel Yeats.

As for Matt Chapman,he would be perfect for the morning line.I wouldn’t want all the lesser meetings ignored and put only in the replay – what is important to one isn’t to another and if people have a bet they want to see their horse run live.
If you had all but the principal meeting behind a red button you get best of both worlds all the racing is available to you and the principal meeting gets the coverage it warrants.
The alternative is a Racing UK 2.
Matt Chapman should transfer from ATR to RUK. Like him or loathe him (I accept he’s a marmite person) he is very enthusiastic person and a good presenter who entertains.
ATR is that bad I’ve actually reverted to C4 and the dreadful Mick Fitzgerald for the Lingfield trials.
May 10, 2014 at 13:27 #478661This weekend heralds the beginning of the end for the dross channel , no more of those torrid bookie presenters putting viewers away
No more flagship of the Dross channel , Its er Punchestown now apparently or maybe Galway or Listowel …..
Hopefully it will quietly spout drivel about its AW dross and fade away in the near future
What a joy to have Ascot coming to RUK , at last its true home
the dross channel , the end begins here ……
in my opinion of course
Duh One of the stupids who forks out for Racing UK and keeps Nick Luck in cravat and smoking jacket.
Will be a joy for you when RUK hikes up the prices, do you not believe in competition?

I’d be in favour of it Ian, but unfortunately don’t think it would be financially viable for RUK to "waste" a lot of money on stuff that’s only on the red button (that a lot of their subscribers don’t even see).
Value Is EverythingMay 10, 2014 at 17:03 #478688Steve , please look at the post at the top of the page
cheers ears
May 10, 2014 at 17:54 #478689The deal breaker for dross viewing , will be what the principal Irish tracks decide in 2016 …if they venture across , then its game over ,,,,
please do it Ireland
Get them off air
thank you in anticipation
imo as always
May 10, 2014 at 19:44 #478695Ricky you appear to have a totally unreasonable bias against ATR. As many forum followers are fully aware, the station has many highly satisfied viewers who are not prepared to pay monthly subscriptions to enjoy live racing. I watch both specialist channels and like the contrast and competition between both.
May 10, 2014 at 20:25 #478700Couldn’t disagree more regards atr. The Sunday forum with Matt and Big Mac are brilliant and most of the presenters are fab. Their preview nights on Cheltenham were far better than racing uk and when Jason and Sean are discussing racing it’s always very illuminating. Got racing uk for a while but stopped as on many levels it is as bad as channel 4. Also of course the replays on atr are free. The Irish racing on atr is the best racing anywhere as we shall see tomorrow at leapordstown and of course they will have guineas day at long champ. Add to that the Melbourne and breeders cup and it’s no contest for me. I would pay to see atr but wouldn’t pay for ruk. That’s the difference.
May 10, 2014 at 21:27 #478708Also of course the replays on atr are free. .
At least RUK show race replays in full unlike how they are butchered or on some occasions totally ignored on ATR
May 10, 2014 at 21:35 #478709Race replays on the ATR website are of course free and complete.
May 10, 2014 at 21:57 #478712Gentlemen , if you read this thread fully , ATR is not alone in being free , so lets put that aside
Its just a dross channel , run by the bookies , for the bookies , supported by mugs who dont’ know any better
If Southwell , sedgfield , wolves , lingfield , et all are your bag , then good for you , fair play and enjoy while you can , as I firmly believe it has a short shelf life …grab some low grade racing as often as you can , it wont last , it will be reverting to the bookies shops , where you will join the great and not so great as they bemoan life’s lack of betting opportunities
If you robustly disagree , thats fine also , this forum accommodates all views (or most of them )
we will just agree to differ ……
For me I will welcome the day when it closes for good
in my opinion
May 10, 2014 at 22:18 #478716Ricky,it’s great we can all share opinions and I respect your consistency. However, I’m unable to reconcile your preference for RUK means you have such ill will towards its competitor. Each channel has its good and not so good points, but surely as racing fans lets wish both well. My final comments on this topic.
May 10, 2014 at 22:36 #478717Why do you want it to close? Just don’t f***ing watch it! Leave the rest of us to enjoy it in pesce.
