Thanks for the pics RGUK…nice to see John Francombe back in the saddle, do you know if he rides out or schools for anyone anymore?
April 9, 2007 at 22:37 #50112Well he lives in Lambourn and owns the yard Clive Cox trains from…I have not seen him out for awhile, but there is miles of gallops…I will check it out for you..
Thanks for the photo comments…I was gutted to miss lots, but I was so busy…
April 9, 2007 at 23:21 #50113RGUK…please don’t go to any trouble on my behalf. I only asked as you caught him (John F)so perfectly on camera and I have fond memories of my Grandad telling me how he always backed whatever he was riding (Bless).
Btw, do you race ride the horses you train for PtP and if so have you had a good season?
April 10, 2007 at 22:11 #50114I dont have a jockeys licence, but i do ride out daily on the pointers and on real trainers racers….I also have just started working in the local bookies in a evening to earn some extra for holidays and for a new house….so a very busy woman! We have had a slow season, due to the ground, mine need goodish ground, but it has gone from heavy to firm…one was a winner last year…
Its no problem…Lambourn is not that big, someone will have a answer…
April 10, 2007 at 22:25 #50116Thanks RGUK…I somehow got the impression you you were a busy women!…hench the retraction…nevertheless, your are clearly a women of many talents. ;)
April 18, 2007 at 21:49 #50117I`m new here and enjoyed reading the posts, Always go to Lambourn- a great day out. First went in 1987 when Upper Lambourn had the cream of the jumping yards – Winter, Walwyn, Pitman, Sherwood. Henderson was at Windsor House at that time and had about 20 horses including See You Then parading around the field opposite. Others open AM included Gaselee, Simpson, Nelson and Vigors. Stables open PM were Stan Mellor ( William Muir`s place now), Peter Walwyn at Seven Barrows and finally Henry Candy. I`ve enjoyed every visit since but that was the best ever
April 18, 2007 at 21:57 #50119Seagull – was that before or after Jacqui went bankrupt owing half the Lambourn Valley money……??
April 19, 2007 at 08:47 #50121S.Leader
Whatever the rights or wrongs of his mothers business dealings James Doyle was at the time a schoolboy riding out for pocket money before school much the same as another schoolboy in my town a few years ago.
Not suggesting James Doyle will ever become champion jockey but the one in my city did.
The most famous former Lambourn schoolboy who makes it big time in sport will not have nothing much to do with racing though.
He currently plays football for Arsenal! Having been sold for 10million by Southampton.
April 19, 2007 at 10:49 #50123Now now Seagull – you certainly can’t go calling Compton a town, that it ain’t!!!!! As Theo isn’t from Lambourn anyway, he’s from Compton! ;)
I’m sure James was earning his money riding out as a schoolboy and good luck to him – not a fan of his mother though.

Have you joined purely to have a go at racinggirluk or do you have anything positive to contribute? Just wondering like!
August 14, 2007 at 11:41 #111324I know nothing about racing but have TB so have been lurking just reading posts trying to learn a bit about the industry. It has never been my intention to post anything but…
I’ve seen RGUK everywhere – equine world, ex-racers, bebo, facebook etc and have always ignored their posts but the replies (now edited) on the Locksmith post were a bit much (ie total fantasty). I object to people name dropping like that especially when they are friends/acquantances of mine. Like I said the truth is out there on all those other sites for folks to see, don’t worry I won’t be posting again.
