This mare has just run at Bath (finishing 3rd) having won less than 23 hours previously at Musselburgh.
What are the logistics to doing this ?October 2, 2017 at 18:46 #1319875The trip would have taken something like 7 hours given that it takes us about that time from Dunfermline to my mum’s place near Newbury which is a similar trip. I presume the trip would have been directly after cooling down after the Sunday race.
A trainer of my acquaintance told me that a racehorse can travel for 2 1/2 to 3 hours before starting to get dehydrated. On that basis I presume there would have been at least one pit stop on the way to Bath.
As an aside, I noted somebody on Twitter commented ‘Lady Joanna Vassa wins yesterday at 15/2, sent down to Bath today, into fav & runs poorly!’. On the contrary I’d say third was a decent effort off a run followed by a long box trip.

October 2, 2017 at 22:47 #1319919I can recall a Pat Rohan trained horse taking part in two races in a single afternoon. I think it won the first.
