I just thought they all got backed in. Brians runners as a whole tend to be overbet.
Last weekend i had ferryman and neptune. I thought neptune was a cert and he drifted alarmingly depsite me having a big bet on it and ferryman gets backed in despite me thinking the price was too short.
The betting is a funny game.
My mate mal last winter was funny, i made him a 7/4 shot, put on the message he is a very strong bet and yet he drifts to 7/2 and wins easy.
People like to link the market to trying and not trying, but most the its just the market liking something else or correcting a false morning market with the extra liquiidity
November 23, 2010 at 22:17 #329497Good things expected of Marsh Warbler?
Couple of nice looking wins!
November 23, 2010 at 22:21 #329499I really hope so. Impossible to say how good he is as he has beaten 2nd rate horses so far. So its hard to know if hes a 125 horse or a 145. But he has a decent engine, jumps well, is genuine and professional about all aspects of being a racehorse.
Been great fun so far since i got him from a seller and hopefully a trip to the festival will still be under consideration after his next 2 runs whereever they will be.
He’s hopefully very good and as such i acquired his full brother Ravi River last week to run under the racing club banner in the off chance he can make into a hurdler as well
November 23, 2010 at 22:27 #329504Good stuff, all the best with him will be watching closely!
January 7, 2011 at 00:33 #334925Another lovely win for Dontpaytheferryman. Who cost as much as a bag of nuts basically.
Maybe another bad buy, im not sure tbh

Well done, Koo. Having your purchases subjected to this sort of unfriendly scrutiny is certainly not something I’d like!
Buying bloodstock for a syndicate is a thankless task as you’re always on a hiding to nothing. If they win, that is merely what is expected and if they don’t you’re a poor judge.
What most people forget is that the big owners spend hundreds of thousand of pounds on horses that never reach the track because of either physical problems or lack of ability. No-one accuses them of a lack of judgment for buying those animals because they only notice the high profile winners.
Judging by the recent performance of your horses, I’d say your judgment is pretty good.
I hope you’re not expecting Bring Sweets to break his duck on the flat on Monday, though
January 8, 2011 at 13:17 #335091Well done with Marsh Warbler Koo. Cracking performance.
January 10, 2011 at 11:18 #335291The originator of this thread should post a full apology.
January 10, 2011 at 21:06 #335362Best of luck with Palomar on Saturday, Koo.
January 10, 2011 at 23:33 #335378Yeah well done koo! Think a lot of credit must go to Brian Ellison aswell he’s got his horses in fine form at the minute!
Really pleased for ya with Marsh Warbler…mentioned it earlier on this thread how it had won nicely! Excellent performance the other day and must have been a real buzz. I know you mentioned earlier a crack at Cheltenham, but how do you think the probable drier ground at the festival will suit your horse? Cheers..
January 10, 2011 at 23:49 #335382Newbie here.
I am a member of Koos racing club and I must say Kristian, Zuzka and Brian do an excellent job.
I would highly recommend anyone wanting a foothole into racing ownership to look at Koo’s.
I am not a spammer or on any commision – I was just browsing and noticed a thread on Kristian.Good luck all

He should do no such thing.
Koo was kind enough to sign up to TRF when this thread was started and took the discussion in good spirit. He’s clearly not as precious as some owners and I wish him hearty congratulations and best wishes for the future.

Taken in good spirit or not, the opening post was disparaging to the point of condescension and has since been proven to be grossly unfair.

Was it stable money that saw Powerful Ambition cut to 5/2 from an early 11/2, Kristian?
January 26, 2011 at 22:38 #337833My mate might have backed it at 11/2 but i was at donny sale all morning.
I backed it but only at 10/3 ish once id seen we were paddock pick. I thought trying to judge the paddock would be the best edge to the market.
Brians isnt really a gambling even though some of in the yard are pro gamblers. The market really takes a chance with our horses and prob people are trying to 2nd guess if im going for a touch.
The amount of bad favourites we have is unbeleiveable
March 4, 2011 at 15:37 #343244Another cracking performance there my Film Festival. Jumped like a stag and refused to go down when headed late on. Be a travesty if he loses it. Well done to the Racing Club.
