I actually felt really sorry for BOS before the GC.
Was i the only one who felt that he became almost distressed when he realised where he was. Certainly very wound up
Always felt that MH should have conditioned him to the coure (and travelling maybe) more than he did.
September 7, 2006 at 12:13 #76177"I consider Beef Or Salmon to have been the best ‘staying’ chaser over both the last two seasons,"
Grassy, your words not mine… Your backtracking now.. Hourigan would snap your arm off for a GC win for this horse, or a King george probably but he’s won neither.. KK’s won G1’s on different tracks, ground and distances in big and small fields. So are you standing by your view or sayin the Lexus is the best piece of form? Cos if you are i’d argue that Hedgehunter’s last two nationals are as good.. But thats over 4m 1f in a handicap?!?! You have to view these things as a whole if your going to generalise..
September 7, 2006 at 12:43 #76178Clivex, your now revealed love of Chelsea explains a lot of things
Just wondering how you’re feeling about losing your best defender
September 7, 2006 at 13:02 #76179John Terry is still with the club last time i looked Salse :)
September 7, 2006 at 16:27 #76180Undoubtably Gallas was Chelsea’s best defender.
September 7, 2006 at 19:24 #76181Listen ive watched them for years..nearly all home games since 1984
Gallas is a fine player but not a JT. JT has more presence and is actually a much better passer as well as blocker
Gallas has more pace granted
September 7, 2006 at 19:28 #76182Lets just imagine if Best Mate only won those 3m slogs round Haydock say but flopped everytime he ran at Kempton and Cheltenham or anywhere else
Theres no "if" about which was the better horse EC.
Thats the only part of the post i disagree with…others top effort young man :)
September 7, 2006 at 21:11 #76183I was just sayin that over 4m 1F at Aintree Hedhehunter was pretty impressive both times and backed it up with a second in the gold cup over a shorter trip on unsuitable ground,so it’s one of the best circumstantial results.. But I am bangin on about this now so i’m gonna agree with Trackside that I hope KK comes back and be quiet..
September 7, 2006 at 21:50 #76184Mmmmm – Dessie 12 st, KK 11st 8lbs at Cheltenham on good ground. Close call I’d say and I’d just go for the Irish horse.
He wouldn’t have done so if Carvill’s Hill hadn’t fallen.

As for Best Mate…he couldnt win a 3 mile slog around haydock :)
SHL
September 8, 2006 at 10:40 #76187True :) Maybe
Three mile small field sort of gallop then
September 8, 2006 at 12:20 #76188Grass –
Dessie’s best Cheltenham rating = 171 and a 1 1/2 length win over Yahoo.
Kicking King 177.
While you could argue that these may be out by a pound or two if KK was in reciept of 6lbs you’d need those figs to be almost a stone out before Dessie wins.
September 8, 2006 at 14:02 #76189Just to point out that Timeform had Kicking King running to 164+ when he won the Gold Cup.
September 8, 2006 at 14:15 #76190I would indeed be a supporter of DO over KK if they ran around Kempton but not over 3m2F at Chelters. Dunno if, conceding 6lbs, it would necessarily be effortless though.
Ah, aren’t such trivial, meaningless and utterly pointless debates the very stuff of all that’s good about racing!
September 8, 2006 at 19:08 #76191Lol – don’t know about Fuhrer!!!!
Phil Bull called it the ‘great triviality’ or something like that and he had it right.
