Forget the horses overseas this race will go to Kingsgate Native any thoughts on this race
June 8, 2010 at 23:34 #299591Kingsgate Native’s biggest challenge could come from old rival Equiano, who will be hard to keep out of the frame.
June 9, 2010 at 00:07 #299594Nicconi all the way. Got him at 7s and won’t have him beaten. Only negative is Dettori.
June 9, 2010 at 00:29 #299596Gold Trail will lead them easily for 4f. Apart from that I don’t have any idea.
June 9, 2010 at 10:05 #299617Considering this report before the KrisFlyer Sprint – ‘Gold Trail’ ran with credit…
KRISFLYER INTERNATIONAL SPRINT
Gold Trail
(AUS) – Gary Portelli
Light canter on the Polytrack.
“He lost a bit of weight overnight and shifted his two hind plates,” said trainer Gary Portelli.
“He became a little agitated with the racing last night. He did the same the previous Friday night as well, but was nice and relaxed all week.
“Hopefully he’ll put the weight back on today and be back on track come tomorrow.”
Portelli said the farrier attended to Gold Trail before he headed on to the track for a trot and canter on the Polytrack.
“Apart from that little hiccup overnight, everything has been in order,” said Portelli. “Hopefully we will see him at his best tomorrow.”
Post race comments:
Australian trainer Gary Portelli was really stoked with the fourth placing of Gold Trail who held on bravely after leading to well into the straight.
“At the 300m, it felt like a dream, but I was always worried about the 1200m being too long for him, especially on a soft track and at such a level,” said Portelli.
“I think after the rain fell, the ground on the inside was not the best part to be in, but he drew two and was inevitably going to be up there somewhere.
“He’s done us really proud. You have to be in it to win it and we’re glad we came all the way to try our luck.
“I think the 1000m of the King’s Stand (at Royal Ascot) will definitely suit him better.”
June 9, 2010 at 10:47 #299623TBH, Total Gallery makes a lot of appeal after running well with a group 1 penalty last time. 5l off Kingsgate Native with 7lbs pull – I’d fancy him to go very well. If your a betting man 14/1 looks a bit silly. His only appearance at Ascot didn’t go well but he looks a different prospect now
Correction – 1 out of 2 at Ascot, won there on his first start as a three year old.
June 9, 2010 at 16:56 #299675im sticking with Kingsgate Native

June 9, 2010 at 21:45 #299729The trends don’t really say much.
Alfred Nobel
Borderlescott
Equiano
Gold Trail
Markab
Nicconi
Starspangledbanner
Total GalleryWould be surprised if either of the 2 Ballydoyle runners turned up and Markab will probably be far too slow.
June 10, 2010 at 10:16 #299779I thought the main one was to follow something from down under in this?
These comments are interesting – if we’re talking of the ‘best’ and taking a ‘Benchmark’….
FRANKIE IN AWE OF AUSSIE ACE
By Tom Peacock, Press Association Sport
Frankie Dettori believes it will take a smart performance to defeat his King’s Stand Stakes mount Nicconi.
The Australian sprinter has a formidable record over five furlongs, winning the Coolmore Lightning Stakes at Flemington in January, and trainer David Hayes booked Ascot master Dettori to ride him some time ago.
Nicconi is the general 4-1 favourite for Tuesday’s race and is entered in Saturday’s Golden Jubilee Stakes, but Dettori says it is unlikely he will contest both races.
"David Hayes booked me a few weeks ago and I rode him on Tuesday morning. I was very pleased and I wouldn’t swap him for anything else," said Dettori.
"David said he always runs best first time up and he won’t run on Saturday because if he wins on Tuesday they will run him in the July Cup.
"He’s the best Australian sprinter and I’m not sure there’s anything about in Europe.
"He has come from a different part of the world and flown for 24 hours.
"That’s a big deal, but if he runs his race he’ll take all the beating."

Fleeting Spirit
will make it 3rd time lucky, trouble is she runs over 5f like she"s crying out for 6f! 100/1 she wins both the Kings stand and the Golden Jubilee is tempting! I have to give a mention to her Abbaye Conqueror
Total Gallery
,this fellow has been laid out for this and at 14/1 is a cracking e/w bet even with Dick Hughes steering! Riding would be too strong a word!
June 11, 2010 at 23:10 #300056ive seen nicconi run heaps of times and crazy spped at 1000mtrs no good over the 1200..woulh have liked better if Oliver or Williams was in the seat though.
Still with all that said it should still get up.

I’m on since wednesday…best price I could get was 12/1 though.
June 14, 2010 at 02:14 #300406Gold Trail will lead them easily for 4f. Apart from that I don’t have any idea.
I’m going in even stakes on Gold Trail and Total Gallery. I had a real good look at the race tonight and Gold Trail looks a cracking bet at 12/1.
Equiano likes to lead and by all accounts that wont be allowed to happen with Gold Trail 4 off the rail. He’ll burst out and over this distance he wont be caught. The expected fast ground will aid his cause and the rest will be left standing. Any challengers for the lead will be bured off and Total Gallery will come off the pace to grab a place, suprised at the horses he chased home the last twice with 7lbs extra on his back going the opposite way.
Done and dusted

I like the idea, and I agree he should comfortably cover the likes of Equiano, but Gold Trail could start to fade and walk as soon as he hits rising ground. When he starts to stop there is nothing left. If it was a flat track round a bend, I’d be convinced Gold Trail would win. He’s a good back to lay, and imo if there’s one jockey who can get him home in the style necessary, Rodd is the one.
June 14, 2010 at 12:44 #300477I see this going to kingsgate native because the fact he stays 6f the faster they go earlier the better for him. With gold trail in the field the fast early is guaranteed.the money will come for him tomorrow and he will start favourite.

With Equiano, Gold Trail and Mister Manannan all confirmed front-runners there’s little chance of a steady early pace and I very much doubt whether Nicconi will stay the stiff, straight five furlongs.
Kingsgate Native
may not be an original selection, but he travels, quickens, stays and will have come on plenty for his Temple Stakes run.
June 15, 2010 at 00:41 #300639One would hope the English have realised the Australian breed is a league above in the sprinter’s realm, and wouldn’t dare try to ignore/take on a horse deemed just as fast as any of Scenic Blast, Miss Andretti or Takeover Target.
Afraid not.
