If Zarrooni set up in a country that allowed the use of the steroid he was banned for over here; then sent a horses over to Royal Ascot and all we had was the trainer’s word of non-use… would we be accepting this?
Clenbuterol is not a steroid, but it can be used in a similar way and European trainers are unable to use it in training.

Sport is supposed to be played on a level playing field. Never mind being able to gallop his horses at Ascot, that pales into significance when compared with the advantages that drugs give.
A question I would like to ask is how does Ward rate in the USA? Is he the top trainer over there, or are there other trainers who are considered his superior? I suspect that other trainers could have the same success if sending their charges over.

Just looking at a still photo of Happy Like a Fool on the sportinglife website…can only see her front half but she looks like a Belgian Blue bullock, or one of those halter show Quarter horses with a double muscling gene.
Easy to say in hindsight but I should have really backed her because that Queen Mary performance last year was the most visually impressive display any sprinter had put up for years
Exactly what I’d come on to say. Most big festivals include what I’d call a ‘hindsight horse’ where you wonder afterwards how on earth you weren’t on. The Lady definitely takes that honour.
WD winners, a great shout on that track record bet @ 25’s MOM. Would of been a legendary bet that one.
To me, this looks a race that at the end of the week the racing world will look back on and ask how on earth Lady Aurelia could possibly have been allowed to go off around 3/1.
I’m trying to see what price I can get on a track record for her in the race.
In the end, it’s a case of asking how the how the racing world allowed her to go off at 4s.
Completely agree Ginger. Instead of all this fawning over Lady Aurelia and Wesley Ward it should be pointed out that Ward has an advantage over his rivals. Ward in America, NOT EVEN CLOSE! Just another decent enough trainer, does little on the dirt (hey, some US trainers made their success primarily on turf)
Chad Brown and to a lesser extent William Mott are the main lads for turf races. Keiran McLaughlin does well for Shadwell and Godolpin . The English man, Graham Motion, has had some very notable success with Niarchos/Flaxman horses
Ward does get some Coolmore horses, who, surprisingly, even with their sires like Giant Causeway who led the Champion Sires division for one or two years, are no where near remotely dominant in Turf races unless O’Brien send B team horses to the Mid summer races.
Ward wins races alright, and in fairness he does not run as many horses compared to the big boys, but alot of races are allowances and small grade stuff. In fairness to the man, those horses that do win big in the US eg Hootenanny , Undrafted, Acalupuco (many of whom are at some point owned by Coolmore or bought by Coolmore) , are sent over to Royal Ascot where compared to Americans prize money, is peanuts.(I note Ascot have upped the prizemoney in many races)

This is the list of his graded US wins, which , looks rather average considering they have so many graded races (have a look at someone like Chad Brown and what he does in a year, and he ain’t that long as a trainer)

Machine at 5f wouldnt bother with 6f if she hadnt bothered with 6 the price would have been very different today

I agree with the sentiment and think Ward should be banned from Royal Ascot but ethics don’t come into it when you’re betting. Backing against the fastest horse isn’t the most effective form of protest.

How is it absolute nonsense? Do some research into ward and drugs. In fact you don’t even need to do any research. Just look at his horses in the parade ring. Even someone of limited intelligence can see there must be something a bit odd going on when some of his horses are twice the size of anything else in the race.
Btw I’m hardly “pocket talking” (a weak argument of someone who can’t offer anything else) as I didn’t have a bet on this race.
In fact I’ve been fairly consistent on saying how something should be done about Ward. Rather than all the sycophantic nonsense that happens when he comes over here
