I can’t see this horse going back to Roger Varian after seeing the interview with Kia whatshisname on ITV. Although he didn’t say as much he clearly blames Varian for the horses injury.
The more I know the less I understand.
May 18, 2024 at 15:08 #1694797I’d be updating my CCTV system and hire a couple of bodyguards if I were Roger

May 18, 2024 at 15:11 #1694799I’d love the trainers to tell him where to stick his horses and wish itv would boycott him. Can’t think of anything positive to say about him.
May 18, 2024 at 15:13 #1694800Not a fan of Matt Chapman but well done to him for asking the question the owner looked distinctively uncomfortable coming up with a response.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 18, 2024 at 15:15 #1694802I’m so glad Rossa Ryan is well clear of that owner. Rossa seems much more confident and relaxed now not riding for it

May 18, 2024 at 15:15 #1694803I would be none too pleased if I were Roger Varian who seems such a decent bloke. To say the horse was sound and now he is not is a damning comment to the trainer.

May 18, 2024 at 15:17 #1694807I wonder if Mr Beckett will train King of Steel should the horse recover.
May 18, 2024 at 15:19 #1694809Horses are very fragile and can get injured walking let alone training etc
I don’t know what’s happened with King of Steel and the owner has to do what he thinks best but he’s so far up his own arse and lacks any decency from what I’ve seen of him. Which isn’t a lot thank goodnessCharles Darwin to conquer the World
May 18, 2024 at 15:23 #1694811“Big framed horse gets injured in training”- stop the presses. What a graceless arse that owner is. Zero class unlike Roger Varian who is a good trainer and comes across very well too.
May 18, 2024 at 15:24 #1694813With his pattern of behaviour in the past can we really be surprised by this…..if I was a trainer on that level and he approached me to train his horses, I would say thanks but no thanks.
May 18, 2024 at 15:56 #1694840Ed “I fear from today, it sounded like he was leaving one on Roger Varian”
Columbo can rest easy with Ed on the case…🕵️

May 18, 2024 at 16:10 #1694855He is a difficult person to like but jockeys and trainers must know what to expect by now. He is not the first difficult owner in the history of the Turf.
May 18, 2024 at 16:19 #1694858I think the way he conducted himself today was disgraceful. Of course it is his prerogative to move his horses but don’t make statements like he did today on national television.
The more I know the less I understand.
May 18, 2024 at 16:34 #1694865Fair enough RTB. I am watching cricket today and have not actually seen any racing.
I am not making excuses for him but any trainer who takes horses from him must realise it comes with risks attached. He is likely to take them away on a whim.
David Egan should not expect it to be a long term job either.
