GOLIATH 7/1
Don’t think this a stronger race then last year when he beat a better field. Return in France won and expect him here to defend his crown.
June 23, 2025 at 06:03 #1734488Agree with Goliath was a very easy winner last year. That form looks pretty good with arc winner bluestocking and ultra reliable rebels romance behind. As long as decent pace should have a great chance again. 7/1 looks massive.
June 23, 2025 at 06:31 #1734490Goliath 7-1 ew for now. Kalpana unlikely to run if ground is as quick as last year.
June 24, 2025 at 11:26 #1734534“for now”. LOL
Value Is EverythingJune 30, 2025 at 12:08 #1735205Obviously a chance he may not turn up, but I’ve taken SkyBet’s 14-1 on Lambourn. If he goes he’ll surely be much shorter.
July 18, 2025 at 17:04 #1736339Lots of rain and storms for South East over the next few days. Hope it doesn’t get too soft.
July 19, 2025 at 09:48 #1736399I was browsing the market for this just now, and how is Merchant 16-1?
He won a handicap, off a mark of 90, by a length last time; he should be at least double carpet for this. Shocking price.
(Watch him bolt up now!)
July 19, 2025 at 11:41 #1736419Merchant probably won’t run. The Gordon Stakes likely next the trainer said, with the Leger possibly after.

CalandaganVF x
July 24, 2025 at 14:46 #1736640So the mid season highlight has a final field of five.
Calandagan
Continuous
Jan Brueghel
Rebel’s Romance
KalpanaThe more I know the less I understand.
July 24, 2025 at 15:13 #1736641I think if Rebel Romance (as admirable as he is) wins this to me it will be more than a little disappointing that a horse that has had to travel far and wide to win his G1s is all of a sudden at 7yr good enough to finally win a G1 on home soil.
Calandagan has to be produced at exactly the right time and strike with a quick decisive burst that doesn’t allow Jan Brueghal to respond – Ascot’s short straight should suit the French horses better than Epsom because if he gets in a protracted battle with JB, there is only going to be one winner.
Continuous has a very important role here because if he does go off too fast, I doubt Ryan will go with him as that would set it up for the hold up horses – but they will still need to go fast enough in order to bring stamina into play as JB is undoubtedly the best stayer in the field.
Shame that this race hasn’t attracted any of the Classic generation but being that both the Derby & Oaks winners are stable companions of the JB, they were never going to appear but it is still disappointing that it is only 4 serious runners turning up……Continuous will pick up £40k for finishing 5th!
July 24, 2025 at 16:12 #1736642For me as a betting proposition it isn’t worth looking at.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 25, 2025 at 22:07 #1736715Obviously something will win but I don’t fancy any of them at the prices.

July 25, 2025 at 22:58 #1736719Certainly easy to spot the young “journalists” & presenters working themselves up into a lather for tomorrow’s race, way too young to remember when this really was a race to get excited about.
July 26, 2025 at 09:07 #1736752Rebel’s Romance – 11/2
Stats are against him being an older horse and never having won a Gp.1 here, but his form with Al Riffa is credible as RR hit the front too soon in the Hardwicke but still stayed on strongly to win, he never knows when to give up and will give it his all. Hoping WB will deploy usual tactics.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 26, 2025 at 11:24 #1736771Yawn, no bet for me but expecting JB to win
July 26, 2025 at 12:47 #1736795I wasn’t going to bother with this but Kalpana 11-2.
The more I know the less I understand.
