Probably the most boring and uninspiring King George in recent years, only topped by the 2020 renewal.
Jan Brueghel is 9/4 right now which is acceptable, but I’m not sure I’ll be having a bet in this race.

    No idea who wins…

Calandagan might be better over 10f when the pace is strong and got beat by JB this season.

Jan Brueghel has first time cheekpieces in a group 1. Apparently the win record for that is really bad up to now.

Kalpana is gearing up for a trip to France in October so any win before then a bonus.

Rebel’s Romance will run his race probably but no 7 yr old has ever won this.

    Continuous is the likely pacemaker.

I’m backing Kalpana at 13/2 WIN only. Juddmonte wouldn’t mind having another KG winner among their future broodmares.

Prize money for next year’s race is up to £2m making it Britain’s richest race, lets just hope we get a better and bigger field for it than what we have today.

11-10 Calandagan seems far too short considering he will be the most difficult horse to get the tactics right on. JB now at 5-2 and first time cheek pieces would indicate that they think that he is not really putting it all in even though he clearly outbattled/stayed Calandagan at Epsom.

    Played into Calandagan’s hands.

I had to vomit after watching the race. There was no need to have a horse which is truly at 10,000/1 shot getting in the way of the three others.
Well done to a very patient Mickael Barzalona and pretty tough luck for Rebel Romance to be caught in that sort of pocket.

And he can’t run in the Arc……..come on France Galop sort yourself out – Kalpana once she gets some soft ground in the Arc will be a huge player.

Aidan O’Brien sometimes succeeds despite himself, but the tactics there were a shambles. Best ride of the race was by Osiin Murphy who almost stole it on Kalpana, though Calandagan is class and it seemed the track was the problem at Epsom.

Clearly Continuous was run to be a hindrance to those in behind mainly Rebel’s Romance.

The more I know the less I understand.

JB has taken a lead in all his races until today so why they thought this was a good plan beggars belief.

Continuous was employed as a clear spoiler and this case should be looked at by the Stewards because it is against the whole spirit of the rules of racing but they won’t do anything because they are gutless.

Agree – Continuous – a St Leger winner being held back, and not going on to make the running – then getting in the way of Rebel Romance….

Should be in front of the Stewards, but won’t be.

Wayne Lordan made no attempt to win that race albeit he was the rank outsider and not expected to win. His token attempts at pushing the horse were comical and people wonder why questions are asked about the sport. A couple of furlongs in it was obvious what they were doing, disgraceful in my opinion.

The more I know the less I understand.

Well done to Calandagan. However, have to agree with Ruby and all comments about Continuous. He was only there to keep Rebel’s Romance boxed in which was an absolutely unfair and unsporting attitude by Coolmore.

Continuous wanted to go on and make the running and you could see he was being held back strongly from the get go. His mission was to spoil the chances of Rebels Romance who was held in on the rails. Will Buick tried twice for a run but Continous had done his work.

I’m glad Calandagan won and not Jan Brueghel the tactics completely ruined the race and turned it into a Farce. 😠

Thanks, Jac. The worst team tactics ever in a high-profile G1 and a disgrace for this great race, imo. Blocking the field when running down to Swinley Bottom and then still keeping tabs with JB, keeping RR in a pocket and forcing the other two to go wide was horrible to watch and digest.

Seb Sanders Sky Racing says AOB horses tactics were great. Haha.
