About the respect RTB, he’s only really come on the scene. Beaten GC winner twice, but not on the biggest stage yet- Punchestown yes, a great festival but Cheltenham comes first. 2nd time on reappearance. If Galopin goes out and wins a GC again + Fastorslow 2nd/3rd….well Galopin will still have the higher reputation/respect i’d say.
As HDLG says, win a big one + he’ll be talked about much more. I think he will do.
Galopin’s won G1s 3 seasons in a row.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 18, 2023 at 09:48 #1674310It looks like Elliot is getting cold feet about sending over Geri Colombe. With that in mind, I have backed The Real Whacker. He has to put a poor run behind him but it sounds like he had a valid excuse. There are doubts about some of the others, so the 10/1 is fair.
December 18, 2023 at 09:59 #1674311I reckon Elliot sends none.
One to Savilles, one will take a less “hot” race.

He may not be able to keep going for 3 miles after the injury but the pace he will be going will burn off the other front runner/s
December 18, 2023 at 12:45 #1674318Mullins has confirmed all being well this is the target for Allaho. Geri Colombe now looking doubtful to travel over.
The more I know the less I understand.

As much as I like GDC Cork, I think Geri Colombe looks nailed on for the Gold Cup in March, rather than a whiz around Kempton.
The extra distance and track will suit him better than Kempton. It’s a long uphill climb from the bend and he’ll relish every single yard of it.
December 18, 2023 at 21:41 #1674347I agree Kempton would probably not suit him, Griff.
My only concern about his chance in the Gold Cup is he should have won last season’s Brown Advisory but he jumped moderately. Admittedly he will almost certainly have a better jockey on his back if Kennedy takes the ride but it would still put me off backing him at the likely price.
FF – Allaho is the only horse above The Real Whacker in the betting that would concern me and I may end up backing him on the day. The only question mark I have against him is he does have the second run after a long break factor to overcome.
December 18, 2023 at 23:05 #1674356That’s the only reservation I’d have if really pushed to find something.
Another year on his back and a little more experience will help his cause, and he’ll be one of the few finishing strongly. Gallopin Des Champs isn’t the most fluent of jumpers at times either, but class has prevailed.
Should all make for an interesting race.
December 18, 2023 at 23:15 #167435811/4 about BMG is too big now in my opinion with Gerri doubtful about coming over.
I’m a huge fan of horses who’ve been there and done it and multiple winners of races. He ticks the box for me.
I’m also on Shan blue at massive odds simply because I could foresee a field of 7/8 a fortnight ago and it’s looking like that’s the case.
December 19, 2023 at 05:37 #1674361If peak BMG turns up Allaho could set the race up for him …. But I just think the GC left a mark , I hope I’m wrong
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 19, 2023 at 08:29 #1674363If a peak Allaho turns up then BMG could still return to his best and not win though.
Ok the Clonmel Oil was in early November but given the layoff + how testing it was i’d say it’s very unlike WPM to run Allaho here. If he does you’d have to imagine he’s showing all the right signs afterwards. Still might not bounce back 100% when he hits the track but given it’s a trip over the water and he’s one of the yards stars, you’d have to be hopeful.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 19, 2023 at 15:13 #1674370Allaho was my early fancy though I’m afraid of the bounce now, this being his 2nd run back. He’s too short for me now anyway.
I couldn’t have BMG either after 2 gruelling runs already this season and he wasn’t at his best in either. if anyone can get him right for this though, it’s Nicholls.
With Gentlemansgame out of the Savills, I’d say Elliot will get his way and Gerri Colombe will go there now. He was never a King George horse for me anyway.
I’m siding with Shishkin, hoping the good version turns up. If he’s near his best here, 7/1 is some price. He’s fantastic around Kempton also. 4 runs, 4 wins.
The Real Whacker as a cover bet. 10/1 is decent and he’s the fresh horse of the race. The last run doesn’t bother me as he flopped first time out last season also.
December 19, 2023 at 16:59 #1674374GM23, I agree about Shiskin, worth a punt at that price. Nicky has turned horses round before and will again (hopefully Boxing Day).
I like the e/w price of Frodon 50’s, so a little fun bet as potentially there may be only 7 runners and could sneak a place or better.December 19, 2023 at 17:10 #1674375So many question marks over whether horses will actually run or perform, i’ve placed a sentimental (some would say “silly”) bet each way this morning on
Frodon at 66sAs Landafar says, there could easily be a small number of runners by Boxing Day, and if Frodon has one last decent run in him, he could hang on for a 3rd.
A win only, on one of the chief contenders, will be placed on ‘the day’.
December 19, 2023 at 21:09 #1674388A question to the Shishkin backers. Is Shishkin really going to win a King George on seasonal debut?
December 19, 2023 at 23:09 #1674392I wouldn’t be worried that this will be Shiskin’s first outing, more worried he might not what to join in. I agree with GM23 in that his Kempton record is outstanding and I will probably be on his side, he is a class act.
The more I know the less I understand.
