We do know how good he is though VF, he shown that yesterday,if he had a formline that stood up to that level id maybe agree he had an off day, but he didnt, just isnt good enough
December 27, 2021 at 21:40 #1575009Seemed obvious to my eye they were going too fast yesterday. Is it that hard for jockeys to time sectionals in their heads as they go round? It seems like the jockeys just go a pace their horse is comfortable with and just gamble that they’ll make it to the end in front (only works when you’re on a wonder horse like Frankel in the guineas).
And a 3m chase on very soft is certainly a million miles from the guineas.

December 30, 2021 at 21:14 #1575578Nicholls was clearly dissatisfied with Sheehan’s ride on Saint Calvados. He will not be riding any of the Brooks’s horses in the stable. Cobden won on one of them at Taunton today.
December 31, 2021 at 22:18 #1575821“Henry de Bromhead described Minella Indo as Shook [emotionally or physically disturbed; upset.] when they got him home. Never known a trainer to use the word before regarding a horse.”
From the Gavin Sheehan thread. Shook is definitely bad. “Not quite at himself” would be a little bit bad- but “shook” is a strong term. Which makes me wonder if he’ll be ready for the DRF or if he’ll need more time to get over it and go straight to Cheltenham.
