Jumping like that he will be pulled up in the gold cup too
Very dissapointing
December 26, 2019 at 15:41 #1478120Well done Darren. Clan Des Obeaux looks a considerably better animal going right handed.
Lostintranslation – trainer, as he sometimes does, has gone once too often to the well today. Lostintranslation never looked happy, reverted to last season’s scrappy jumping and, more worryingly perhaps, showed signs of breathing problems here.
Given the way he dazzled last year and looked so professional against Altior, Cyrname has run no race. Out on his feet at the end but I can’t have it that he didn’t stay given how he powered home in a good time last time.
December 26, 2019 at 15:46 #1478122Each to his own but I reckon cyrname will be back down in distance , been a strange day with plenty fancied festival horses getting beat , heho onwards and upwards
December 26, 2019 at 16:05 #1478125Cyrname seemed beaten when they jumped the 1st in the back 2nd time round. He never looked comfortable throughout the race and it wasn’t just stamina. We’ll see where he goes next…
December 26, 2019 at 16:20 #1478130Something was up with Lostintranslation even without the jumping. Jockey wanted to sit closer to the front but for some reason lost his place, went to last place and never travelled after that.
December 26, 2019 at 16:58 #1478133CDO will always have his place in history as a dual King George winner. Still cannot have him for Cheltenham. He has beaten two non stayers, a horse who was not good enough and another horse who seriously underperformed and is possibly better left handed.
I still think Al Boum Photo is underappreciated and if he wins on his debut has got to be favourite.
December 26, 2019 at 17:01 #1478134Thought this race was a bit thin; CDO had been well beaten in his previous 3 races.
December 26, 2019 at 17:28 #1478140The question with AL boum photo is if last year’s race left a mark , when native river won a few weeks back johnson told Tizzard that he finally felt like his oldself , Tizzard remarked that’s its maybe taken him a year to get over his GC win , if you look at the stats of prev GC winners performances after there GC,s they don’t make good reading ….bar Native who had even won another race in recent times , the race is a horse destroyer … I haven’t given up on lostintranslation yet but for value e.w ….Native old friend I need you again
December 26, 2019 at 17:45 #1478141Agree the Gold Cup has left its mark on a lot of winners. The only thing I would say in Al Boum Photo’s defence is he had a very light campaign last season. He did not run until New Year’s Day at Tramore and then went straight to Cheltenham after being pulled out at Leopardstown due to the ground.
The last I heard is he is due to start at Tramore again this year. Is that still the case? I hope so. Tramore is one of my favourite tracks and it would be great for it to have the reigning Gold Cup winner there.
December 27, 2019 at 11:06 #1478186Topofthegame at 33s was 1st bet in this race but that one injured way it sound like PN not run him here so very happy with CDO guys did Paul say he backed CDO a month ago in Racingpost am sure he did when talking about horse.
And thank you guys for nice words
December 27, 2019 at 12:09 #1478195He said he backed him at 7/1 straight after his reappearance run as far as I remember
December 27, 2019 at 12:14 #1478198Lostintranslation found to have a wind issue.
