Seems a fair bit off, but might as well get the thread up and running, as there could be a few clues in the coming weeks, and one of my early fancies potentially out this weekend.

I can see most of the talk for this years race surrounding Altior, but I’ll leave that to others. My own thought is that they’ll send him here, though he is priced accordingly, and as much as you could argue that none of them appeal this far out, he certainly doesn’t when he’s as low as 4’s.
The first one that really jumps out to me, and she’s due out this weekend, is La Bague Au Roi. As Steeplechasing pointed out early doors this year, she just looks better over fences, and her performance in The Kauto Star, along with that handy allowance, gives plenty of encouragement. Maybe not one for every one, but hopefully Joe will be in agreement. I really liked her over hurdles, but this season has seen her in a totally different light. We should know more this weekend, but I think there’s a real chance that the current price could evaporate.
With much discussion around Frodon seeing out The Gold Cup trip, I’m surprised he’s not caught more peoples attention for this prize. It’s his time of year, track should suit, and difficult to think of another partnership that’s more in sync, than he and Bryony Frost. He still looks progressive, and I really think that this is tailor made for the pair of them, and I’m really surprised that he’s as big as 25’s, even at the tail end of January.
There are loads of Irish contenders for this, and there will be plenty of discussion around them, but they rarely travel over, so I’d be holding fire, not that the likes of Kemboy, Al Boum Photo, and Delta Work, to name but three, would’t be out of place here.
Loads of up and coming Novices to consider too, like Defi Du Seuil, Vinndication, Master Dino, Lostintranslation, and Dynamite Dollars.
Stablemates of Frodon, Topofthegame, and especially Cyrname are another pair who look very interesting at prices, but for now, I would be most interested in this pair, and I’ll probably have an early go before the weeks out…..
Frodon 25’s
La Bague Au Roi 16’sJanuary 29, 2019 at 12:15 #1394143Don’t think Altior 6-1 is too bad a price if you think this will be the target. Probably a 7-4 shot on the day.
January 29, 2019 at 14:03 #1394153Spot on, Bobby. The mare is twice the price she should be
January 29, 2019 at 20:22 #1394186I took 8/1 on Altior earlier this month. I hope he’ll go to Aintree for the Melling Chase and then next season here.
January 30, 2019 at 00:08 #1394221Good luck DB, be surprised if he goes bigger than that any time soon.
Yeah Joe, regardless of how she fares this weekend, I think I’ll just take that early price on her.
January 30, 2019 at 22:27 #1394341You don’t get too many Irish raiders in this, but I could see Kemboy being perfect for it.
January 31, 2019 at 23:17 #1394471It was a real shame about the injury to Master Dino at Plumpton, but if they get him back, I could really see him round here.
I would hardly be in a rush to bet him right now, for obvious reasons, but if he came back I would definitely take 33-1
February 16, 2019 at 16:06 #1397723Had a go at 12’s there in running for Cyrname, that was impressive.
March 15, 2019 at 11:57 #1402237It’s probably mad having three in this at this early stage, and that’s even without considering Altior.
Cyrname will surely be a big player for the yard here, but in light of yesterday’s event, I just had to add Frodon. I genuinely don’t think he’ll be the stables #1, just look at their ammo now, but I love this duo, and I think the price is crazy.
Cyrname 12’s
Frodon 33’s Each Way
La Bague Au Roi 16’sMarch 16, 2019 at 17:33 #1402546Before RSA Chase i put up TOPOFTHEGAME 33/1 for King george in my thread not happy won as on Santini for RSA But feel now price for KG been slashed and got form here at Kempton when 2nd.Can improve more this year
March 16, 2019 at 17:53 #1402547If Cyrname and Clan Des Obeaux hold their form into next season I think Topofthegame may be sent elsewhere.
September 21, 2019 at 20:46 #1459616September 21, 2019 at 21:29 #1459619Long since laid off La Bague and Cyrname, so left with Frodon 33’s EW, though as I said, hardly likely to be yard #1
September 22, 2019 at 18:22 #1460535Bobby, I’m nervous now about La Bague Au Roi. I’ve a feeling something happened with the horse on that Irish trip. I’ll see how she goes on her debut
September 22, 2019 at 23:49 #1460640Yeah, a bit wary of her myself now Joe, but I remain hopeful.
It just made sense to make a profit on the race very early, but I’d be more than happy to cheer her home. Fingers crossed.
September 23, 2019 at 22:32 #1462424Sad news re TOTG!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!September 24, 2019 at 01:40 #1462459Bummer but at least he still on the green side of the sod..I was worried when I saw your post! Back next year hopefully.
On a prosaic note- on the strength of this news – put a pound on LiT for the triple crown at the 66s?
