“Weak finish there from Mr P Mullins”.
The fake amateur outridden in an amateur riders race.

How the hell did Mullins manage to lose the race?
March 12, 2026 at 20:31 #1759162As much as I’m not golden boy’s biggest fan, I think he rode a good race, got a good position (and the rail), looked to me to stay balanced in the saddle and rode a decent finish. The horse, having been keen, was just outstayed at the finish (and pulled up to a walk easier than the winner suggesting that the jockey hadn’t left anything behind).
The commentator remarked several times that he was keen early on, and Patrick can be a bit of an electric arse at times, but in fairness he didn’t fiddle about with the horse too much and got the stride right at pretty much every fence, which is usually my biggest criticism of him. I don’t like him over fences in general and am normally looking for reasons to criticise him, and I backed the horse, but I can find no fault with the ride.March 12, 2026 at 20:42 #1759169“The horse, having been keen, was just outstayed at the finish”
Well said, GAG.
Unfortunately, it’s easier to blame a jockey than a horse.
