…airlifted by helicopter to the Epworth Hospital after suffering serious head injuries after an horrific race fall at Flemington this afternoon.
McEvoy was riding the filly Miss Butterfield which appeared to clip heels of Vie and fall at the 250m mark in the first race, the Crown Trophy.
Vie also fell in the scrimmage but her jockey Dwayne Dunn escaped with severe bruising.
Dunn limped back to the mounting yard but McEvoy lay motionless on the track.
Jockey, Craig Williams, who witnessed the incident said "I felt sick."
The latest report is that that McEvoy is conscious.<br><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

…doctors expecting that he will be discharged from Royal Melbourne Hospital in a day or two.
"He knows who he is and where he is," McEvoy’s father Phillip said yesterday.
McEvoy senior gave an updated report when he returned to Flemington from the hospital to collect his son’s riding gear.
"Kerrin was unconscious for a minute or two after the fall … he has a bit of bruising around the temple and has cuts to his face and an ear," McEvoy senior said.
"They want to keep him there for a day or two to monitor him but it is a precautionary thing. He’s quite lucid and seems pretty right."
