Fantastic horse , just a shame the fall out between owner and trainer seems to have overshadowed everything else
July 2, 2015 at 21:26 #1121002Why wasn’t someone with him on the Saturday when he ‘went down on the cross tie’?
July 7, 2015 at 07:50 #1126159Honestly, some people are never satisifed unless they’re making mischief.

Last thing the poor woman needs at such a sad time.
July 7, 2015 at 20:05 #1126429BlackGold, It was a pity that between the Wednesday she left for Hickstead and the Friday when she was certainly still there competing, she did not see fit to abandon her own interests and return to her yard. A yard which she is responsible for. She then had a Pol Roger Champagne photo shoot at Burghley House on the Monday/Tuesday after Kauto Star was euthanised. Her twitter page clearly showed her competing at Hickstead and at the Pol Roger photo shoot. Frankly, its a bit too late for a story she does not know is true or not, if it was true where was the chronological order or discovery from day one. I do not feel sorry for her at all, she had a responsibility to her yard and she has failed this by staying at Hickstead, and has also appallingly failed a National icon also.

What absolute nonsense. It is quite clear that up until Saturday the condition of the horse wasn’t thought to be very serious. There was no reason for her to return and she couldn’t have done anything anyway as he was in the care of the experts and she was in no doubt being kept informed and was in touch with the owner. She saw the horse on the Sunday and was prevented from visiting him on Monday. She hasn’t failed anyone at all. To suggest, as you do, that she didn’t care is pure, nasty muckraking without any evidence.
July 7, 2015 at 21:30 #1126443Kenh, all I have put to this forum is what is FACT and is in print on her twitter page and National press. The ‘care and control’ of horses on the yard lies with the yard ‘owner’, I do not know if you have run a professional yard, but I have. Care and Control, means you are responsible for what happens to the horses in your care. It was therefore her decision alone not to attend. So I absolutely refute that I have ‘muckraked’ as you so politely put it, I have also not said that she did ‘not care ‘ either, I suggest you look at my post and revert yourself to the facts as printed. Thank you.

The whole insinuation of your post is that she didn’t care. Exactly what would have been achieved by her returning from her event? What care and control didn’t she show ? what could she have done ? she has a yard manager and other employees to run the place in her absence. The horse was being treated for what, at the time, was not thought to have been a serious injury. What difference would her returning have made ? No need for her to return.
July 10, 2015 at 19:50 #1128319So you would expect Paul Nicholls to pull all his runners in races for however many days and return to the stable when as far as he knew there was nothing seriously wrong with Kauto Star? I’m sure the owners of his runners would have loved that. Why do you expect her to behave differently? Because it’s essentially the same thing. She rides horses for other people, she doesn’t necessarily own them all herself and can do as she pleases. If owners were expecting to see her riding their horses at a major showjumping event (equivalent of the Cheltenham Gold Cup btw) I expect they’d have been pretty pissed off if she’d just up and left.

It’s at times like this that you realise some people are more about ego and personal vendetta, than they are about humility and dignity.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 13, 2015 at 11:32 #1132033Totally agree the memory of the great animal’s achievements on the course should be the only thing that matters.
All the muckraking is regrettable but we ought to remember it has been given prominence by the media who are clearly hell bent on twisting everything these days to get the attention of as many people as possible.
July 13, 2015 at 12:11 #1132430It’s probably has a lot to do with the greatness of the horse as well, though, in that there was a sense of ‘how can this possibly be’ about it, which always brings about conspiracy theories. Having read what Laura Collett said in the article it makes far more sense to me now.
