You are assuming that soft ground will stop Binoclular Ginge and it simply won’t makean ounceof difference to him and you are also assuming he won’t produce a turnof foot on soft yet he quickened up brilliantly in heavy ground atone of the stiffest tracksin the country albeit as a novice……a novice good enough for me to say he was a Champion Hurdle horse there and then.
You guys can’t get the Sun Allianceout of your heads can you?
You are being silly making silly faces about Franchoek like I am some kind of idiot……..FFs open your eyes and try and learn toread through the lines mate. He’s been beaten what 4 times since the triumph? which was a crap race Binocular would have won by 10 lengths had he ran in it 100% fit, something he was not in the Sun Alliance.Forget Celestial Halo he won’t be a factor unless something falls over the top of him when he stops dead.
Have a nice Xmas mate 3.23am here and got an early Xmas Lunch tomorrowso I’m off to bed
I am not assuming anything Fist. Binocular has never run on heavy ground. Ascot is no longer a stiff track, since the redevelopment it favours front runners and stamina is not at a premium. The race as a novice was hardly run at a furious pace either. Soft / heavy going, at Cheltenham (a very stiff course) and run at a very strong pace will test Binocular. A very different test to Ascot on good-soft. Binocular might still win, but the Supreme Novices (not Sun Alliance, but Supreme Novices) just puts a question in one’s mind; will he stay under those stamina sapping conditions? And will another horse like Celestial Halo improve for those conditions? Sorry, I do believe Binocular was fit for the Supreme when going like a winner turning in, but did not get home. Another year on, he probably will be o.k.; at least under normal conditions.

Value Is EverythingDecember 25, 2008 at 08:04 #199136you would think it was the Sun Alliance Binocular was going to run in.
I can’t tell you what to believe and what not to believe about the Supreme that is up to you.
I still can’t understand where you are getting your ideas from that Binocular won’t get the trip if Celestial Halo goes off at 100 miles an hour and the ground is soft.
Perhaps you should ask yourself why Nicky Henderson didn’t run him in the Xmas Hurdle at Kempton a race he dearly loves to win.
The answer to that question and it came out of his own mouth is he thought the track wouldn’t suit him………why? Too sharp!!!!
You reckon he is all about speed and nothing could be further from the truth.
Sure his speed comes into it but it’s the econmical way he travels that is his biggest asset. He takes virtually nothing out of himself when jumping it come so easy to him and his cruising speed is so high it is on a par with the likes of Celestial Halo when he is going flat out.
If it comes up soft there is nothing in his make up that says he cant go on it. Ascot on his first run may have been a novice hurdle but it was on soft/heavy and he moved beautifully on the ground and was never out of a canter to get through it. Ascot is no longer a stiff track? your arse n parsley Ginge where do you get that idea from? it is still more testing than the majority of tracks in the UK. Didn’t know they were still selling the Dandy and the Beano in the UK
….try checking the course description on the net I think you will find it is and always has been a testing galloping track and if you don’t stay round there you are well goosed despite the changes.Neither Nicky Henderson or AP MCoy have any concens about the ground or the Cheltenham Hill and both have said so………sorry but I side with them on this one and as I said earlier the ground, the hill or the pace are of no concern……..the danger to Binocular comes in the shape of a huge horse called Sizing Europe and even he might not be capable of giving Binny a race….I hope

Merrry Xmas mate!!! gotta go gobble a turkey……..and hey! don’t even think about saying it
December 25, 2008 at 09:30 #199137Binocular is a special horse.
AP went for him to soon in the supreme and it was only his third run for Christ sake. He was far from the finished article. Celestial Halo hasn’t got a chance against binocular whether it’s soft, heavy or 4 gladiators stood down the gauntlet!
