There’s alot of posters on here who know a dam sight more about racing than i do, so would appreciate anybodies thoughts on the ride that Loughran gave this horse today at navan. I feel that this horse was’nt given the chance to win, but as far as i know nothing was said on ATR.
I’ve long held the opinion that irish racing is’nt entirely straight and today just seems to back up my thoughts.
March 29, 2009 at 00:10 #218983That horse is incredibly fustrating and that’s putting it mildly. I wouldn’t be too harsh on Roger Loughran.

March 29, 2009 at 00:47 #218992It looked suspect for a long way, but when the jockey finally used his whip, admittedly very late indeed in the day, the horse curled up, which is what he usually does.

ooooooooooo, sarcy
only posted it to get opinions as i’ve never seen the horse run before, but it would appear that the horse is a dodgepot and has to be ridden like that, so fair doo’s to Loughran.

What I meant was all racing is not straight forward, for a more PC way of saying it, so why pick on Irish racing.
You only have to watch ATR and the Irish jump racing to understand what "schooling in public" means.
Still if you know that you cannot complain

I knew nothing about this horse but wondered if the above was the reason for the odd ride when watching it.
He seemed to come there travelling easily but then the jockey just didn’t ask a question – as if he did not expect it to win.
Funny to see Royal County Star win – I backed him for whatever the Whitbread at Sandown is now called. He ran a stinker that day and my other choice was Monkerhostin at 25/1 – SOB!
