Fair enough Ginge maybe I got the wrong end of the stick as I read it through so quickly.. trying to do 101 things this week so that I can get to Newmarket on Friday and Saturday including a tricky house sale abroad (Don’t ever buy a house abroad as one day you’ll sell it and the nightmare of paperwork will begin
).Anyway looking forward to this race and seeing a nice 2yo emerge
Best of luck
Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 10, 2019 at 19:41 #1448188It is okay Jac. Not a problem with the hijacking.
I agree again with you regarding wanting to see Visinari do it at this level and that is what I meant when I commented earlier.
And Ginge proven ability to me is doing it in a good class race as opposed to doing a fast time or being visibly impressive in a maiden.
We have heard many times that the maiden or lesser race was run in a faster time than the Group race but that doesn’t mean the horse that won the lesser race would have won the Group race IMO
And even with your comparison with human sprinters doesn’t necessarily hold water Ginge as we have seen plenty of flying machines both human and equine not perform on the big stage.
July 10, 2019 at 19:42 #1448189And Jac we lived in Spain for two years and eventually decided not to buy a house there which listening to you sounds like a good decision
July 10, 2019 at 20:39 #1448194Visinari odds on with most firms now
Very skinny price
If I can get 4/1 guildsman I will have a small saver on my 9/4 visinari

You’re right, Raymo. When a maiden runs a faster time than the Group race in most cases it is because the Group race is slowly run and the maiden run at a true pace. So… true, in that scenario doesn’t mean the horse that won the lesser race would’ve won the Group race. However, this is different because Visinari has done a time associated with a fast run Group 2. ie It is impossible to do such a time unless the horse is at least Group 2 class.

And even with your comparison with human sprinters doesn’t necessarily hold water Ginge as we have seen plenty of flying machines both human and equine not perform on the big stage.
There are many reasons why a human sprinter doesn’t run well, different climate and can’t handle the pressure just two. A horse – as the example of Natalies Joy confirms – can run poorly for many reasons including different trip and different tactics, different ground, injured, virus etc etc…
…Just as normal form analysis from every race “doesn’t necessarily hold water”; may be I should throw my form book away as normal, non-timed form doesn’t always work out either; just stick a pin in.

Wise decision not to buy in Spain Raymo,
especially with Brexit looming we are relieved to have sold it at last.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 10, 2019 at 22:01 #1448197You can borrow my pin if you like Ginge

And Jac hindsight is a wonderful thing but it is nice to make the right decision occasionally
July 11, 2019 at 00:20 #1448211
You certainly did make the right decision Raymo, houses in general taking up to 3 years to sell even in the Costa Blanca, the Brits are coming home, we sold to a Belgium couple (came out with a deal
)Back to the race Platinum Star now out to 10/1 or more so good each way bet to be had
will stick with him now, he has to improve on that last run although admit he has it all to do but these 2yo’s improve leaps and bounds with each race and keeping the faith. Best of luck Raymo
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 11, 2019 at 00:23 #1448212Don’t throw your form book away Ginge, don’t forget you’re offering it up as a prize in your 10 to Follow Comp, although at the moment looks like you might be hanging onto it.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 11, 2019 at 02:32 #1448215Visinari odds on now. Pleased with the 6/4.
Still think he wins if he matches his first run. If the expected improvement comes, he wins and goes single figures for the 2000 Guineas.
July 11, 2019 at 14:29 #1448246All the doubters were dead right
July 11, 2019 at 14:32 #1448248Looked like he needed further
July 11, 2019 at 14:44 #1448249Don’t right Visinari off.
I’d like to see the sectionals. Two that beat him were held up out the back. Visinari doing by far the best of those racing prominently.Value Is EverythingJuly 11, 2019 at 14:44 #1448250You have to wonder why Mark Johnston changed his mind !!
Should have ran him in the superlative!!
But once again hindsight is a wonderful thingJuly 11, 2019 at 14:45 #1448251Just shows you how tricky 2yo races are, we all saw how huge the horse was, we all heard how the trainer seriously considering running him over further, yet he still went off a very short price. He has shaped decent enough there, but i wouldn’t be saying he’s the star some thought……i’d say Ballydoyle will be looking over at that result and saying sweet

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 11, 2019 at 14:54 #1448253Cant see any of them getting remotely close to monarch of Egypt let alone siskin
July 11, 2019 at 20:03 #1448286Second time that Platinum Star has been beaten by a Gleneagles colt, what a great finish though I thought if he could only have stretched his neck put a bit on the nod it would have been his…however happy with my place return.

Sorry for those on Visinari at such short odds if he hadn’t been so hyped before the race that could be put down as a good effort and Frankie gave him a good ride but didn’t help his price with so many first time racegoers at Newmarket today his mounts are always heavily supported.
Even the Coventry form took a knock.
with Guildsman unplaced.Cant wait to be there tomorrow and Saturday..lots of good racing ahead.
Jac
