That money for LBB was a proper headscratcher
Trainer said he’d missed 5 days of work
Generally hasn’t looked like he’s trained on
But absolutely hammered in the betting only to finish last
May well be his last run
The winner is the type of horse I like, very talented but also mad as a bag of spanners
Horses like battaash and Harry angel were similar in you never knew what fhey were going to do one race to the next
Thought he showed raw 5f speed today the way he tanked himself to the front
Get him in the Nunthorpe I say
July 15, 2023 at 21:05 #1655548It was 50/50 midweek LBB was going to race and I was somewhat surprised he showed. He got checked during the race but he was going nowhere.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 15, 2023 at 23:14 #1655564Always nice to see a big race going to a yard like that, but tbh I don’t think it was a vintage July Cup.
I suspect only the winner and the runner up have run to form as well.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 16, 2023 at 07:24 #1655577Does Little Big Bear need a flat track? He was impressive at Haydock but has not looked at ease at Newmarket.
He is best priced 10/1 for the Haydock Group 1. It would be a leap of faith to back him but that could be a very big price on a track that suits him.
July 16, 2023 at 08:16 #1655582I loved Little Big Bear last year, backed him for the 2,000 Guineas with a “he’s a sprinter, actually, Ian” insurance bet for the Commonwealth Cup.
But sad to say I think he peaked as a juvenile.
He was beaten fair and square at Royal Ascot by a colt who is progressive whereas he has plateaued.
There was probably a big stands side draw bias at Haydock, I now think only the front two gave their running and Shouldvebeenaring is no great shakes in the context of Group 1 races as his no more than respectable Prix Jean Prat run suggests.
If Little Big Bear was in any other yard he’d surely now be 20/1 plus ante-post for Haydock or any other Group 1.
Like his sire and Blackbeard, Little Big Bear’s future must now be at stud, siring yet more of those “instant product” 2yos that are so fashionable nowadays.
We live in the disposable razor and disposable 2yo Royal Ascot winner era nowadays.

He bruised a foot earlier in the week and it was extremely silly to risk him.
July 16, 2023 at 15:38 #1655614He bruised his foot quite a bit earlier than that as it was announced he’d missed six days cantering because of it last weekend.
I’m no sycophant, but I reckon that yard has just about proved it knows what it’s doing in this sport by now and I just think he hasn’t trained on and might not exactly be in love with the game any more as that’s two shockers this season now.
