Think frankie would want the ride again on sceptical in the diamond jubilee
He hit the front way too soon and admitted so afterwards, had he held on to him a bit longer he wouldve won and be half the price he is for this
The trainer has identified it as his next target too
June 27, 2020 at 21:49 #1492023On Khaadem here also just hope the ground is quick!
June 28, 2020 at 00:21 #1492035Oxted 16-1 ew. Missed the Diamond Jubilee and saved for this.
June 28, 2020 at 02:00 #1492041I’d be quite interested in Equilateral here at 25’s. Wouldn’t be overly concerned at the 6 furlongs, and reckon 25’s is a fair price to place.
Haven’t put any money down yet, but tempted. Probably best waiting to see if he gets an entry.
July 7, 2020 at 02:17 #1493127Equilateral gets an entry, and I’ve taken the 25’s.
Another one worthy of note I reckon is Sir Dancealot. Really eyecatching run the other day. Reckon he’ll be run off his feet, but I’d be surprised if you can’t get four places on the day, and I’d be very interested on those terms.
Equilateral 25’s EW
July 7, 2020 at 13:35 #1493152I thought that the performance of Marie’s Diamond at Newmarket last month
was impressive. He was always in control and when Lord Tennyson came
at him in the final furlong he found another gear and pulled well away
from them. He is entered in the Summer Mile stakes at Ascot too, where
he ran a good race and held on for 3rd in the Queen Anne. If he were
mine, after his run at Newmarket last time, I’d go for the £141,000
at Newmarket rather than the £34,000 at Ascot. If he runs the same race
again, even over the shorter distance, he’d be hard to beatMarie’s Diamond 20/1 E/W
July 7, 2020 at 15:47 #1493165I looked at Sir Dancelot for an each way bet too Bobby and liked the booking of Mosse but was put off by the fact that as an older horse he had won more times over 7f.
Brando 20/1 is my EW choice always gives his all and after his run against Judicial where he had a bad start and was short of room he should be spot on for this and he will be up amongst them. Even though the stats for older horses winning this are against him just thank goodness he can’t read.

Golden Horde 3/1
Impressive in the Commonwealth Cup is my choice to win he looked as though there was more to come and 3yo’s have an excellent record in this.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 8, 2020 at 14:03 #1493207Newmarket put 22mm of water on the track over the weekend, to go with the 10mm in midweek. Track now Good on the straight after only 6mm of rain last night, with, depending which forecast you look at, the potential for a lot of rain over the next 48 hours.
Possibility it will get run on Soft at this rate.
Why oh why do courses overwater constantly? It drives me crazy !
July 8, 2020 at 14:12 #1493210The forecast does look pretty bad Frenchy- it’s annoying, i guess they have to water to a degree to appease some quarters, but overwatering frustrates the life out of me.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 8, 2020 at 14:35 #1493214Don’t worry too much about the going at Newmarket and let it put you off a horse you may fancy it is one of the best drained courses in the country because of it’s chalky limey soil which drains so well.
They’ve never had to abandon because of waterlogging and there have been 1 or 2 pretty wet July Meetings since Ive been going. Still have the racecards to prove it
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 8, 2020 at 15:40 #1493219Well to be honest Jac, it’s not even to do with any horse I particularly fancy, (although i’m desperate to see Khaadem again on GF), but it’s more that summer flat racing should be run on fast ground. I’m sick of seeing all this overwatering. Ascot did it, Epsom did it, now Newmarket. I get it drains fast, Ascot does as well because it’s sand based, but it’s not like the forecast this week was wall to wall sunshine or anything and they stuck 22mm on it over the weekend. That’s a bit ridiculous no? We are now in danger of having one of the, if not for me THE best 6F sprint of the whole flat season run on slow ground. There is just no need for it.
You and me both Jack!
July 8, 2020 at 16:22 #1493221What was the issue with the ground at Epsom?
July 8, 2020 at 18:44 #1493228They overwatered in the build up and it was run on slow ground. No way that was Good.
Flat racing should be run on fast ground not artificially watered ground
July 8, 2020 at 19:10 #1493231I do see your point Frenchy and sympathise that Khaadem is not going to have the GF ground that he wants. The overwatering at Epsom definitely played out well for the Irish raiders who also have a good record in this race.
Horses like Khaadeem just have to pray for wall to wall sunshine.
However, I know that you said it wasn’t about any horses but it is really as you mentioned looking forward to seeing Khaadem again. The question is would you have put money down on him on GF ground and will you now just watch which it sounds likely you will do.
Because if he’s good enough he could win and then you feel like I did
at Royal Ascot when I let the soft ground put me off backing Battaash.Perhaps they will stop watering now as there will be rain every day up to Saturday lighter tomorrow, set in for all day Friday and on Saturday afternoon.
It’s still going to be a fantastic bolt for the line but horses will need a bit extra in hand for the stiff uphill finish. Enjoy it.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 8, 2020 at 19:30 #1493232I’m not big on khaadem at all just was a nice antipost price, 16s or something, I’m happy with that. Not even a huge fan of the horse he just intrigues me off that Goodwood run. I think in terms of the race the division is super close so I think it will come down to fine margins like ground conditions. Not sure a slower surface will suit Sceptical either, but it probably would Golden Horde and Hello Youmzain for sure.
But really it’s not about betting it’s just as a spectacle it’s much better on fast ground and it’s simply not fair what courses are doing. The ONLY fair way to do ground is leave it up to nature. Of course there has to be watering from time to time to stop it getting dangerous or too firm, but I honestly don’t understand how tracks are allowed to just dump on 32mm in 5 days which is what Newmarket did last week. It’s crazy and unfair. I would imagine the connections of Khaadem are furious! It really doesn’t help us with antipost either.
It will come down to tracks being ultra cautious to ensure safe ground and an element of covering arses! I’ve been watching it for about 2/3 years now and it’s becoming obvious. Like Epsom calling it Good on Saturday, yeah righto course it was Good! Chris Stickles is another one, dumps huge amounts of water on Ascot and then calls it Good To Soft when it’s clearly a bog!
July 8, 2020 at 20:01 #1493234You make a good point and I get it Frenchy..can’t imagine how frustrating it is for trainers and owners of fast ground horses.

Really missing being there this year and feeling the buzz as they all line up for that dash down the July Course.
Just hope the size of the field doesn’t whittle down because of the ground but there are bound to be 1 or 2 withdrawn.
Looking forward this and hoping Golden Horde will emulate his dad Lethal Force who won this in 2013.
Best of luck Frenchy & Jack and all having a bet in this.
